Kindle Software is updated to version 1.2

4 February, 2009 (17:03) | Kindle news | By: Leslie

It’s official. The most recent software update for the Kindle is version 1.2. If you go to the settings page on your Kindle, look in the bottom left hand corner to see what version you have. Twenty minutes ago I had 1.0.8. I still have that version, despite following Amazon’s instructions to force a manual upgrade. I guess I need to be more patient!

What changes exist in 1.2? Amazon lists these:

Image zoom: Zoom in on any image in Kindle books or periodicals using the scroll wheel.

Enhanced content management: Delete items directly from the Home screen with a new short-cut key–scroll to the item and push the “backspace” key.

Improved character and font support: New support includes Greek characters and monospace fonts.

Personally, I like the sound of the quick delete feature! Maybe my Kindle will be upgraded by the time I am finished eating dinner….
