The Oscars at Kindleboards: Voting and Live Chat!
I am an avid reader but also an avid movie fan (although my 17 year old daughter is making me look like an amateur!). Anyway, every year I look forward to the Academy Awards. I always vote in the poll in our local paper. This year, we have polls for the major categories on Kindleboards. Come join the fun! You can vote for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Plus, on Sunday evening (February 22nd) we’ll have a live chat starting at 8 pm EST (5 pm PST). Think of it this way…for those waiting for Kindles to arrive, this is a good way to pass the time!
Meanwhile, for the readers in the group: of the best picture nominees, two (Doubt and Frost/Nixon) were adapted from stage plays. The Reader is a Swiss book, originally published in German, and unfortunately, not available in a Kindle edition. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is available for free from Feedbooks. Slumdog Millionaire is based on the book Q & A: A Novel, by Vikas Swarup and is available for the Kindle. Click the cover to the left to download a sample or buy the book from Amazon. What’s your verdict? Is the book better than the movie or vice versa?
