Kindleboards member and author Rick R. Reed wins an EPPIE!
Kindleboards member, Kindle owner, and book author Rick R. Reed (who goes by the nickname horrorauthor on Kindleboards) was honored on Saturday, March 7, 2009 when he received the EPPIE award for best GLBT book of the year for his book, Orientation. There were seven finalists in the category; I am familiar with the titles and Rick was up against some stiff competition. Hearty congratulations to Rick for this award!
The EPPIE Awards are been given annually to recognize outstanding achievement in electronic publishing. The awards program is part of EPIC, the Electronically Published Internet Connection, a professional organization for published and contracted e-book and print authors. It was established to provide a strong voice for electronic publishing.
Rick is an early and staunch advocate of e-book publishing. He presently has nine titles available in Kindle format, including his award-winner, Orientation. While known for writing in the horror genre, Rick has recently begun to branch out—I particularly enjoyed his romantic comedy novella, VGL Male Seeks Same which came out in mid-February (just in time for Valentine’s Day!). A Face Without A Heart, a modern retelling of Wilde’s The Portrait of Dorian Gray, is also newly released in an ebook version and very highly recommended.
Kindleboards members will be reading with Rick as part of the “Read With the Author” book klub series. Rick has selected Deadly Vision for everyone’s (scary) enjoyment. The book klub is scheduled to begin on May 3rd. You can learn more about the book klub and sign up here.
