A model's murder takes Cuddy into the jaws of the Boston mob
She was born Tina Danucci, but modeled as Mau Tim Dani., Her friends find the slender beauty strangled to death in her apartment, a priceless necklace of hers nowhere in sight. The police dismiss the murder as an impossible-to-solve botched robbery, so the insurance company hires John Francis Cuddy to do what the homicide detectives can't. But there's something the cops know that Cuddy doesn't: Tina's murder isn't just hard to solve, it could be deadly.

Tina was the granddaughter of Tommy "the Temper" Danucci, the invisible face of the Boston mafia. She turned her back on him to become a model, but hers is the kind of family that never forgets a child. Once Danucci learns that the police have lo...

OK as a fan of the movies, I want to read some of the books of the series.  You know the ones that have to do with Han Solo and Luke.  Does anyone have any recommendations? Since I don't know where to start.  I'll take any recommendations on this please.  Also do you think the characters are better in the books or in the movies?

The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn is probably the best place to start.  Those were the first Star Wars books published and take place about 5 years after Return of the Jedi.

The three books are:

Heir to the Empire
Dark Force Rising
The Last Command

They're all on Kindle--though if you're picky about errors, the books do have a lot.  It's pretty clear they just scanned them in and didn't do a thorough job on OCR errors as some words are wrong here and there etc.

They all also have a timeline of Star Wars books so you can see what order books are in (you can find a list by googling as well).

If you like those, the Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin Anderson is very good as well, and takes place pretty soon after the Thrawn Trilogy.

@kaotickitten Are you US or UK (or somewhere else)? If you are UK I have 2 hardbacks and a paperback - brand new, unread, review copies that you're welcome to have. Can't afford to post outside of UK though.

Star Wars: Choices of One by Timothy Zand (hb)
Star Wars: Shadow Games by Michael Reaves (pb)
Star Wars, Fate of the Jedi: Ascension by Christie Golden (hb)

Message me if you are UK and you want them.

No worries. I like it when review books go to a good home rather than sitting in a crate on my floor waiting for someone to love them!

If David Mack, Dean Wesley Smith, or Alan Dean Foster wrote it, it'll be worth reading. (I don't remember if they wrote any Star Wars ones...but they are my three favourite media authors by far.

The Terry Brooks one was good, too.

Alan Dean Foster has done so many SF movie novelizations. Can't complain, though, since they're usually good.

I checked Dean Wesley Smith's website: http://www.deanwesleysmith.com/

It doesn't appear that he wrote any Star Wars books, but he did write one or two Trek books, some Tenth Kingdom books (with his wife Kristine Kathryn Rusch), and a few other media books. All were under pen names. Wish I could be of more help...

I'm pretty sure Alan Dean Foster did a Star Wars book.  Splinter of the Mind?

I also adored the Thrawn trilogy.  Excellent writing, that.
