Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

Well, I received it today. I first found out about this amazing case when I searched Kindle DX cases on Amazon, and it popped up. I then posted it on here to ask for people's opinions for the K2 version. No one ever heard of it, so I decided to go ahead and get one. Well, it's a perfect fit. It came in a fancy OCTO packaging envelope type deal, and it looked very nice before I even opened it. After I did, I realized I no longer had any fear for damage to my KDX, unless I dropped it pretty hard.

It comes in two colors - black and red. Though, the red is nice and bright (and my favorite color too!), I decided that it would most likely clash and seem out of place with all my other things, so I opted for black. It has a real nice smooth texture (kind of like Spandex, but a lot thicker with padding). I actually thought it would be even thicker than what it is, but I'm glad it's not because than it would be too bulky. It's so slim and doesn't seem to be adding any extra weight at all, like a cover would.

The design itself is very ergonomic, with the opening on the top back, with a Velcro closure. It fits tight against the KDX, with no added baggage to the shape. There are places for all the buttons, so you know where exactly to hit one, when you need to turn the page, scroll, go to the menu or home screen, etc. It would definitely fit with a skin, if you decide at a later time to get one. Though, you wouldn't be able to view it anyway, unless it was the front face plate one - and even then it would just be the keyboard part. The front is a clear piece of pliable plastic, that gives a great view of the screen. There may be a few glares when reading in bright light, but other than that, it does great. One of the other things is that it protects it from any dirt, dust, liquids (temporarily at least), etc. from damaging/dirtying the KDX.

I also need to add that, in addition to the labeling of the buttons, there is no way to access the power switch, speakers, headphone jacks, basically anything on the side exteriors, unless you open the top flap or completely take it out (for the USB) - which is no big deal to me, but may be a nuisance to others. Thought that I would throw that out there, in case it influences anyone's decision to buy the case. Also, the 5-way controller is a tad bit hard to maneuver, but with some practice and mad skills (JK!), it can be done. I've thought about cutting holes for easier access, but I'm a bit hesitant on doing that. The buttons work perfectly fine the way they are (IMHO).

I really like it as an alternative to a cover because it's not bulky or heavy at all. I could slip it right into my messenger bag, and know that it's safe from scratches and other little things that can happen when it's in a bag full of stuff. I don't plan on using this for very long, just for a month or so until the hard crystal cases come out for the KDX. But, it's a great case until then! Hope this review is helpful.

My concern with that case is a lack of protection for the screen.  Against bumps, I mean. . . .

I slip it into a BB sleeve wherever I go. So, that protects the screen. The reason why I have the case in the first place is that when I take it out and leave it lying around the house, it doesn't get dirty, or it protects it when I set it down on something that may cause it give the KDX a scratch.

I just found this case online too. I'm trying to decide if it offers enough protection for beach reading. I'm also looking at the Trendy Digital Waterproof case. Anyone have experience with either?

I purchased one of the 2nd generation cases for the Kindle 2 I sent to my friend who is stationed in Iraq.  I felt like it was extra protection for the sand.

You would be surprised where sand can get. When I was over there a little over a year ago, I had to keep my laptop inside all the time. And there was still sand getting on my keyboard and everywhere because it is so fine it just blows in the wind

You would think Amazon would be willing to ship anywhere to make a sale. Have you contacted Amazon support to see if they might have and answer?
