A model's murder takes Cuddy into the jaws of the Boston mob
She was born Tina Danucci, but modeled as Mau Tim Dani., Her friends find the slender beauty strangled to death in her apartment, a priceless necklace of hers nowhere in sight. The police dismiss the murder as an impossible-to-solve botched robbery, so the insurance company hires John Francis Cuddy to do what the homicide detectives can't. But there's something the cops know that Cuddy doesn't: Tina's murder isn't just hard to solve, it could be deadly.

Tina was the granddaughter of Tommy "the Temper" Danucci, the invisible face of the Boston mafia. She turned her back on him to become a model, but hers is the kind of family that never forgets a child. Once Danucci learns that the police have lo...

Ah, Sajid...Cuidag...you just want to smack him!  Nelwyn has been taken and I can only imagine what Galador is feeling.  The nice thing is, I can't remember what terrible things they MUST do to him when they catch up to him...something to look forward to!   Wink

He's an oily little buzzard, all right. When I was reading this book aloud to my students, they were frustrated that Saj kept getting away. So I held a writing competition called "Kill Sajid". They each had to write his death in the manner they felt he deserved. Got some...umm, interesting responses? They had fun with him, that's for sure! Most of their ideas would have earned an "R" rating for Fire-heart.  Wink

Wow!  There's a class I'd love to audit!  Hearing you read with the intended inflection and voices would be something to behold.  Hopefully your class appreciated what they we able to participate in.  Interesting idea about the writing assignment!  You must have had fun with that one.  Wink

OMG, I have too many hobbies!  I only just got to the part where they are rescuing Nelwyn!  I have been dividing my time between playing guitar, harmonica (both blues) and playing a VERY addictive game on the computer called Skyrim.  It's set in a fantasy setting with magic, swords, dragons, etc and has quest after quest that suck you in.  Reading has taken a back seat lately except for about 20-30 minutes before bed.  I guess I shouldn't complain...having too many things to do is far better than not having enough!  Wink

Hopefully tonight Sajid gets what's coming to him!

 Cheesy Cheesy
Yep. He's an oily little you-know-what.
Took all the Kindle books down last night. It was a bit difficult at the time, but I know it's for the best.

Ouch!  Are you going to be able to put up them up again?  Or is this part of your new contract with the big guys?  It would be a travesty to not have them available for the masses...especially since once they come out again and they get a new infusion of publicity people will start looking for them in multiple formats.

I'm sure Sea Lion will be publishing them all in e-format, but not until the print books come out. The ARC is ready to print...they did it in a 5x8 format, so it looks rather like a brick.  Cheesy

Finally got a chance to make a lot of progress this weekend...the wife and kids were watching the Star Trek movies one after the other all weekend since my youngest got his tonsils out and was largely homebound.

So I'm about 66% into the book now, Nelwyn has been bought, sold, rescued, Gaelen has the Fire Cloak and they are going to decide tomorrow morning if they go to Dun Arian with Bint Raed.  I can hardly wait for the next "big stuff" to get started!!!   Grin

<EDIT>  Oh, and I forgot, Sajid is STILL on the loose!  He needs to get his soon!  I can't for the life of me remember what happens to him.  That's one nice thing about getting old, not remembering so well anymore and reading books a second time...there is much that's "new" again.   Roll Eyes

I always find stuff in books the second time I read them. I miss a lot the first time, it seems.  Tongue

He was in it early on, right?  He hasn't shown up again tho.  It's both good and bad that I can't remember it...it's good that it's like reading a new book (that I already know I love!) but it's bad in that it's very frustrating to know how much you've forgotten.  Sux gettin' old!   Sad

Finally!  The appropriate death of Cuidag!  I also just came across a section I thought was really well-done. When Gaelen finds Siva again was awesome!  I do so love this story...even more the second time than the first.

Oh, and who shows up a couple of page turns later but both Azori and Azok!  :-)

The choice is tough...so many nice places to consider settling down and so many others to steer clear of!  I need to do some research before contacting my realtor about a closing date.  Soon...very soon.

Interestingly, the scene where Cuidag's remains are discovered (and dealt with) aroused some indignation in some readers. They believed it was out of character for their "noble" heroines to desecrate a corpse in such manner. They wondered why I had written it.

What is interesting to me is that it never occurred to me that Nelwyn's (or Gaelen's) actions were particularly heinous. Certainly not motivated by nobility, but they served as a relief valve for the simmering hatred they both felt for the creature who had done SO MUCH of evil to those who had saved his miserable life to begin with. Although my view has not changed, I can understand the readers' view, also. I am continually fascinated by the different ways in which readers perceive the writings--it makes me humble. It truly does.

Huh  I guess you have made the characters more real in my mind, and that gives them the ability to not be falsely god-like all the time.  I appreciated that they showed some realism there at the final demise of someone that hurt them all so badly and they did what any of the rest of us in the same situation would have done.  If you were writing fairy tales where everything is nice-nice, it's one thing, but frankly it would be a bit too sweet for my liking.  The world is made up of made different readers looking for many different things...thankfully there are authors available to appease us all.

The Spider.... I want to strangle him actually. I can't exactly remember what he did, just that it wasn't good. If he touch Gaelen or Nelwyn...

I kind of wanted to scream "let him be!!"

Hmmm...well, let's see--after the Company saves him from death in the desert, he repays them by guiding them to the Sandstone. So far, so good. Unfortunately, though, he lusts after Nelwyn (understandable), who makes the mistake of being nice to him. When she rejects his advances, he reverts to his true self. Everything he does after that is despicable.  Tongue Angry Tongue

Archer, you may not know the conflict you sometimes create, therefore I will enlighten you...it is VERY difficult to read such a great story when you eyes are flooding over with tears!   Wink

I just finished the part when Gaelen has Fima brought to the library to rouse him from his impending death.  Well written.  I know, were I an author, I would want to know where I had nailed it.  That section is a masterpiece.  And thank you ending it with a line or two of humor to allow a chance to recover.   Smiley

Thanks for that, Brew.

It's pretty obvious to me that, as a reader, you really are on the same wavelength that I am. Such readers are rare, and cherished beyond words.

Thank you.
