Ok, some books fill us up, shove us around, dance on our nerves.  But, I'm wondering, what do you read that clears your head?  For me, I'll grab something light and funny, like one of the Jeeves shorts by Wodehouse.  Has to be short, has to be funny.

I use the term 'brain sorbet'  for books used to clear my head ....

LOL

OK, then those would be the books that I pick up at Costco that are outside my usual reading patterns but are cheap and look interesting. The only chick lit I own was bought there. And that is where I discovered the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, which I have stuck with! That series is a good 'palate cleanser!'

They used to put on the back of books by the Booker-Prize-winning Glasgow novelist James Kelman...that they were like "dental floss for the brain".
They never took that intrepid leap of faith though...and coined the term "mental floss"!

I like 'mental floss' .... clean all that icky, leftover seriousness stuck between your brain cells.
