How to Insert Hyperlink?

Hi, I'm new here. I'm trying to figure how to insert hyperlinks and photos. I searched the forum and came up with nothing. So if someone could help, I'd sure appreciate it.

Every time I click the hyperlink button above after highlighting text, nothing happens in the preview. It just looks like I pasted the link. Am I suppose to paste the link in between the url brackets?

Same for image. Do I need to upload the image to a host first and then paste in between the img brackets?

Also, in most cases, you can just add the link, like this:
http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,231.msg2068.html#msg2068

If you want the link to be associated with text, you highlight the text you want, tap the URL button (4th one from the left, looks like a globe), and then put an equal sign and the link in the first url tag, like this:

[url=http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,231.msg2068.html#msg2068]thisisalink[/url]

Which will give you
thisisalink
