I just signed on to Audible.com's free month trial and I get two free audible books with the deal. Can't beat that! Any recommendations for books that are particularly good for listening? Maybe a good long one with an excellent narrator?

I did ask this question under another topic title (the one about music to read by), but I received no responses so far for this part of my question. I figured it should probably have its own topic category to get some attention.

Ditto... "The Help" is a great book. So is "Water for Elephants" - excellent narration!

I'm currently listening to Stephen King's 11-22-63 book -- 30+ hours!  I have a 45 minute commute each way and this really helps the time go by. This is not one of those spoooooky books, just really good.

Thanks for the help, everyone! Funny...the titles you mention are already on my radar screen. I have already read The Help (DTB hardcover), Water for Elephants (audio CD in car), and just downloaded Stephen King's 11-22-63 from Audible. It is now on Kindle and I have started listening. It's a good long one, and I'm enjoying it so far. It's my first S. King. I know, I know, but I'm not much of a horror fan. This one is very different. I was a high school English teacher, so I'm laughing at how he has nailed the details about grading papers, cleaning out the faculty room, and the intercom conversation with the secretary. Now I need one more title for my second free one! How about a few more? Hmm, Steve Jobs?

Two other books by Stephen King that aren't in the horror genre are "Duma Key" and "Under the Dome".  Well, there are others as well, but those two are the most recent that come to mind. Smiley  The narrator for "11-22-63" reminds me of someone I know, but I just can't pinpoint who.

If you liked the "The Help", you might also like "Saving CeeCee Honeycutt".  It's one of stories that you wish would continue.

The Help is fantastic on audio.   Or, the Steig Larsen series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  On audio, the swedish names (that I struggled with in print) just flow.
