 - my husband likes to highlight reference books and uses the Kindle App on his iPad.  He has been running into some books that highlighting will not work on.  Not all books, just some.  Has anyone else ever had this happen?

Have you tried the book on a Kindle, or on one of the other Kindle apps (eg Kindle for PC)? Same problem there?

Can you clarify in what way highlighting does not work? I haven't used Kindle for iPad, but when you say highlighting does not work, do you mean you cannot select a block of text, or that you cannot highlight it once selected? Can you add a note?

There is a type of book which is not quite a proper ebook file; they are called topaz files and are a strange combination of an ebook and scanned text. The main characteristic of them is that the range of font sizes is limited. It may be that you can't highlight topaz files, I don't think I've ever tried it.

Anybody else any thoughts?

Thanks.  Haven't put the book on my K3 but will try in a bit.  This is his experience -- The first time he tried, it gave him the selector's to mark what he wanted to highlight. Then when he tried to move them to expand the selection they would disappear.   Then he would tap again and not be able to get them to come back. If he quits the app and restarts they come back and will either go through the same scenario or occasionally allow him to highlight.    The book isn't Topaz, and the problem is sporadic.   Quite confusing - guess our next stop is to call Amazon directly.

I suppose it is possible that the publisher selected 0% allowed for highlighting.  The publisher can specify how much of a book you can highlight.
