Sometimes there are things far more important than deadlines, writing projects and constantly checking sales. Today I took my son "2 years old" fishing way out in the mountains and watched as he caught his first trout ! We had a blast until it got cold, but d*mn am I proud of him. It was indeed, a much needed break. now, back to the grind.

Sounds great. I think of things like that as recharging the batteries. You draw a lot of juice when you write. It's important to refresh the raw material from time to time. |

Yeah, that's exactly what it's like. I'm refreshed and ready to work. Just being out there in the Blue Ridge always seems to ground me to reality, hell I don't feel right unless I get out in the wilderness for a while every so often. I absolutely love where I live.

I agree, and what a wonderful moment. Children grow up so fast -right before your eyes. My daughter performed at a festival today with her dance troupe. I love to watch her dance. She is so beautiful. It just makes my heart soar.

That is the truth, time is something you never get back. The place I took my son is about a halfmile hike and, of course, I toted him most of the way, but the smile on his face as he reeled in his first fish will be etched in my memory forever. Priceless stuff. |

No one has every passed St. Peter at the Gate, stepped inside and then thought, "Gee, I wish I'd spent more time at the office."
The most vivid memories of my daughter as she was growing were formed in a small Alaskan stream, trout fishing, with half a dozen Kodiak bear about three hundred yards upstream catching their dinner of salmon. She was nine. The picture will never leave my memory.

I spent the day at the Zoo with my parents, wife, and kids today. It was nice to get away from my laptop, which is with me 99% of the time, no joking. Got to pet some stingrays too.

What a great memory to have--you'll get a kick out of telling him about it for the rest of your life.  It's good to realize that we need a break from this writing obsession, because you can write anytime, but once these years are gone, there's no going back. Just .02 from a mother of two grown sons and one who thinks he's grown. |
