Hello I'm reading the complete works of Dickens, all in one big file. I'd love to know how much is left of the particular book i'm reading. So far i'm at chapter 23 and have only read two extra per cent from the starting position. Does anybody know what the irregular dots and dashes along the bottom of the page, just beside the percentage bar mean - I mean does their frequency or spacing have any relevance to ay formatting in the book? Thanks from a newbie

I assume it has a linked table of Contents?  So that you can go to the ToC, scroll around, find the book you want, click, and go straight to the beginning of that one.  If so, The dots along the bottom probably mean where each different book in the collection begin.  So, if you're reading one and decide you want to move on to the next, you can click the right arrow on the directional control (or swipe upwards on the Touch) to go to the next major point.

For books that are single books with multiple chapters, you sometimes see this as well.

The dots in the progress bar below the percentage indicate the chapters of the book, for those books that are formatted with chapters.  You can skip ahead to the next dot (chapter) by pressing the right side of the five-way button (on the Kindle models that have that--not sure how you do that on the Fire or Touch).
