We all have a favourite book, a much thumbed classic that sits on our shelf to be reread every few years or so. And how many times do we sigh and say: “What I really feel like reading now is a book just like ……”
I'd like to invite avid readers to share books they find that are in the same vein or feeling as other favourite books.
For example let's say you read a new book or one you find here through the kindle boards and you say to yourself I really liked that it gave me the same feeling as book xxx. Well then your reaction is exactly what we are looking for! All you have to do is come to the site, pick the genre that best describes your find and say in the comments section "I just read xxx and loved it and it was quite like yyy so people who liked yyy might like xxx"
Or if it's easier, pop your ideas in here and we can add them in.

KatyPress--
we'd prefer to have the conversation here, so I've removed the link to your site, thanks for understanding. If you want to have the link, we'll move this to the Book Bazaar as we ask bloggers promoting their sites to post there.
Good discussion topic!

I've never read a memoir as good as "The Glass Castle"...I would love to read a piece of similar quality.

I grew up loving Robin McKinley's books, so I'm always on the lookout for stuff like that. I have found a few authors that have a similar feel--an intelligent YA fantasy with detailed world-building, strong heroines, a "historical" feel to them in terms of the writing style and the way the story unfolds, clever plotting, and a undercurrent of snarky humor even when the story/plot is not particularly comedic. I have found that Sharon Shinn, Dianne Wynne Jones, Megan Whalen Turner, Sherwood Smith, and Kristin Cashore all have books with this same kind of "feel" (MWT and DWJ are both laugh-out-loud funny too, in my opinion).
I would LOVE to find more books/authors of the same type as the above.

Right now I.m wondering if anyone has found any books like Terry Pratchett books. KP I'm afraid Terry Pratchett is so unique nothing can really match his books. I would say, Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books are probably closest. Great discussion topic!

I'd like something similar to Patricia Highsmith's suspense novels. They're just about my favorite books. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My folks have a clasic that they love reading so much that the printed book fell appart some time ago and they had to go buy the electronic book to keep going with the book. Troubble was that any printed book that they bought was simply going to fall appart again and the electronic book has the advantage that its not going to fall appart like a printed book does.
