Hi,

I purchased a Kindle Touch 3G for a family member who doesn't live near me. I personally own a Kindle Keyboard (no touch).  I bought her the Touch with 3G because I figured it'd be the easiest of the models for her to use. Turns out not to be the case...

Over the phone, I was walking her through typing in username and password, and she would consistently complain about the wrong characters being shown. Turns out the keys just below the ones she was pressing were appearing in the fields. Since I wasn't there with her, I couldn't tell if she was simply doing it wrong. She's no idiot, so I assume she was pressing the keys she wanted.

Any stories out there of mis-calibration of the touch screen? Wondering if her unit could be defective.

Thanks!

Is it possible she is hitting the key below it, along with the key she intends, even though she thinks she isn't? It's not that hard to make that mistake. An easy way to check if there's some sort of defect would be to try using a stylus. I have personally not heard of anyone with a miscalibration of the keyboard, but I'm sure anything is possible. If using a stylus and making a direct hit still causes incorrect letters to come up, I'd call Amazon customer service as there would obviously be a problem with the keyboard then.
