I have been moved.

Some advice though; I think it's great, just not sure about the eyes. Perhaps make them glow. A lot.

Can you do blinking text that scrolls across the book title? I think that's the only remaining improvement.

That's an excellent suggestion, both subtle and classy!

Forget about my glowing eyes, just go with flash & scroll!

Oh, Julie....I love your work!!!  The only problem I have is..well..none of them are wearing any clothes.  I'd be afraid that people might then mistake my work for Erotica.  Can you put clothes on them?  If so, I'm on board.

Your wonderful rendering would be perfect for my next book: "The Cannibal Games."

And to think I missed reading this thread yesterday because I didn't notice until this morning who had started it.  Of course, once I saw Julie's name I knew the standard of artwork that I could expect to see.

I'm going to be trying to create my own covers but, if I get stuck, I might be interested.  How fast is the turn-around?   Grin

I'd love to hire you, but I must insist on exclusive rights to the art (maybe I'll let you use it in your portfolio, I'll have to see how I feel).

After careful consideration and a full examination of your covers, I've come to the conclusion that I can probably do it myself.  I'll have to get a fancy program (Mirado Black Warrior #2?) but, I think with some practice I can get really, really good at doing this on my own.

Dear Ms. Dawson,

Thank you for your submission. As a professional art editor and mentor, I was glad to receive your $500 fee.

I've made some subtle suggestions and changes to your work, which I think will give it that final polish it needs to really take it to the top of the Amazon charts.

I think you'll see I limited myself to the work you contracted me for, thus maintaining your own unique artistic vision.

All best,

I should totally revamp a book cover of mine to look like this, just to see if it does anything to sales. Tongue

I've paid for worse, on Fiverr. Really. Sob.

I'm somewhat seriously considering, because of my lack of funds for cover art, putting two novellas out as one e-book with nothing but my name on the cover, in very small type. I'd call it "The White Novel". Also, as a commentary on how amateur, formulaic, and just generally unfinished my writing is, I've also contemplated calling a book "Title Goes Here". I can't decide if that's a deeply moving bit of critical commentary, though, or just juvenile pedantry...

I think everyone should do their own stick figure version of their cover and add it to their Amazon page as a customer image.

Then I'll put together a Listmania list of "Indie books with stick figure covers!"

We'll all sell MILLIONS through the train wreck effect!

Julie:

I gladly take up your generous offer to do free book cover art. Here's my latest:

"Angst" - a magical realism-sci-fi thriller of a man and woman who experience crushing metaphysical life challenges leading them to existential spiritual and moral crisis, compelling them to question life's meaning and reality while tasked with saving civilization from alien terrorists. It's chockful of flashbacks and contains multiple voice narratives and features the latest Predator drone technology. Without giving away the climax, let's just say the protagonists wonder why they exist and what their fate is while they prevent earth from being destroyed by the alien attackers. It contains themes a la Garcia Marquez, Kafka, Philip K. Dick and Tom Clancy. If you can capture this in a catchy, NYT bestseller-caliber cover, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm not sure my ongoing domination of the train wreck genre on Amazon can withstand additional competition, or I'd be all for this.

Hmmm...

Hi, folks--

Y'all have had your fun...I'm locking this thread in favor of the new, more light-hearted stick figure cover art thread.  --Betsy
