On a less serious note, I thought I'd pay homage to the ever great human idea of "free". Who doesn't like free? If poetry isn't your bag, I apologize . Like it or hate it though, here's my Ode to Free, in honor of everything it has done for us in our literary pursuits. I'll never pay to read again Well, maybe now and then But there's something in it for you Something free will gladly do We'll carry you on our back Into the top 100 pack Units sold like never before Hearts racing as souls soar A moment on the stage A reading on the gauge A place you've never seen A day as King or Queen We'll help you fill the tank To carry you through the ranks To see your name with the best Free may help you pass the test Free, I salute you For everything you do Spreading word like wild fire As unknowns climb ever higher Lame poetry has now ceased. Compliments, heckles, and other general feedback may be directed below.

Thanks all! Your responses warm my heart. After I hit "post" I had a "what was I thinking?" moment, so that's good. Kay, read your PM, and I agree. Thanks for pointing that out. I will do something about it very soon. Have a lovely Sunday (or whatever day it is in your time zone)! Thanks for taking the time to read this little musing.

Can anyone play? Never a gimmick quite like free-ing, Can I as a writer recall see-ing. Get your book to the masses, bleating, your heart in constant panic, beating.
Now await the angry one-star rating, but rise not to the trollish baiting. While you are for that waiting, spam not Twitter, it's quite grating.
Short-term effect on sales may, pleasing, in your mind some doubts be easing; If you seem, with success teasing, please check whether Hell is freezing.
Go free, go free, for you and me; gain sales rank in Germany! No lasting benefits to see? Try again in a week or three...

I'll not even attempt to compete with that. But then my brain is turning to mush after so many hours at the computer in the last two days...

Just make sure you catch it in a cup or something as it leaks out. Wouldn't want to lose your mind as well. I heeded your advice btw, better?

Really? I changed it... Shows up on my side. That's odd.
