I stumbled upon the following links through a Smashwords Forum post, so many here may already be aware of the story they reference (relating to copyright infringement).  Still, I liked the author's posts from her own blog about it so much that I thought I'd share it for those who may have not seen it.

The following two blog posts are by the author of Charlotte Sometimes.  In them, she whimsically describes how she finally met Robert Smith of The Cure, who "nicked" the premise, passages, and title of her book for their popular song of the same title.

It's a bit of a sweet story.  I am enamored by how she describes Robert Smith. I am intrigued by how the events over time transformed her perspective over having her material used without her prior permission.

(Please note that I do not condone or encourage copyright infringement.  I merely thought this a mildly ironic, though sweet story as well as a somewhat enlightening and thought provoking perspective on a situation that seems to have worked in the favor of the author, as perceived by the author.)

That's a sweet story. I think the cool part is how inspired he was by her writing, and that he had an original edition that he underlined in. That's not  money, but it is something special. Seriously though, he should have acknowledged it from the get go. Glad he gave her her moment.
