Suddenly I click on the Kindle boards and I'm not seeing the threads I started.
Like the lil' tiny one about me hitting the NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller list! Just a tiny post that as an Indie author I never thought I'd be able to tell the world about. UGH. And an earlier post about hitting the USA Today Bestseller list? Where did these posts go?
I thought the book bazaar and writers' cafe were the proper places to post such things. Am I wrong?

Oh, wonder where they've gone. I'm sure you'd be allowed to mention hitting New York Times Bestseller list (WOW!) I'd be shouting it from the rooftops if it were me... Well done.

Well I did shout it... and the USA Today thing too... even had a chance for people to high five the USA Today gig, but that post is gone from the system. Thanks, Amanda.

I didn't see the other threads, but KB has a strict "One thread per book" policy. If you posted new threads for each milestone, instead of posting them to your existing thread, they might have been deleted.

No, the USA Today one had a lot of chat on it. And it's gone. I guess I didn't place it in the right thread. I knew I couldn't go on her and spam everyone asking for them to buy my book. Actually, I don't hink I've done that at all. But a thread where we could talk about the success that we all want to achieve I would think would be welcome. For the first time, I'm a bit miffed. Oh, well... live and learn.

If you are creating a NEW THREAD for the SAME BOOK for EACH MILESTONE you are spamming. You need to keep all announcements in the same thread. http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,97734.0.htmlWe LOVE it that you let readers know when your book or books go free. But have you forgotten that you are allowed just one thread for each book? Many of you are starting brand new threads to announce the fact and that has made us more busy than usual merging your new threads with existing ones.
And we're not going to continue to have the time to do that.
So, from now on, we have a new policy called "Off With Your Thread." If you start a second thread for a book, no matter the reason, the new thread will simply be deleted. You may or may not receive a PM notice. Sorry, there are just too many of you, too many threads and not enough time.
For our newer members, the one thread per book rule was developed over time to help control overly enthusiastic author promotion and also to help readers keep track of what is going on with a book they are interested in, as they can ask to be notified of changes to the thread. It is your responsibility to read Forum Decorum and to be familiar with our rules. (By the way, you were provided a copy of the rules when you registered. ) And you can always PM one of us if you have a question.
As always, we recommend you bookmark your book threads in your browser, and set notifications "on" so you'll know if a reader posts there. And remember, you may change the subject of your book's thread to reflect the new "Free" status by going to the first post in the thread and clicking on "Modify" and then editing the subject of that post. This will change the subject that appears in the Book Bazaar's topic list; you can change it again when the free period is up. There is more information on this in the Book Bazaar's Threadipedia.

I'm very sorry that I didn't realize the meaning of the rule and that I violated it. Not intended.

Thanks, Alen and everyone for the kudos.
Crazy wonderful things are happening to Indie authors everywhere. I'm not the only one. I'm just vocal about it!

As Julie noted, there is a strict "one thread per book" rule in the Bazaar. There are 3000+ of you all and a lot of you have more than one book. . .There are two of us. For a while, we'd routinely merge the threads and send a PM but that got to be way too much work -- there were days I literally spent an hour going through new posts in the Book Bazaar -- just since I went to bed the previous evening -- before even getting to the rest of the boards! Finding an existing thread, if there is one, generally only takes about a minute, but then we'd merge it, post a reminder, and send a reminder PM. Got to be too much. So we announced our "off with your thread" policy a month or so ago and now, most often, will simply delete the new thread. Depending on what time we have, we may or may not send a PM. Please note that it's NOT personal. . . .yesterday I deleted another half dozen or more posts that were new threads started for books that already had them. And it's also not a NEW rule -- it's just our response that has changed because of the workload involved in finding and merging threads, posting a reminder, and sending a PM. And, as a reminder, when joining the forum, the 'rules' are presented and one agrees to them at that time. They're also posted prominently in "Forum Decorum" and summarized in the 'welcome post' that's put in every new book thread. Now, in the Cafe, we don't curtail the celebratory threads much . . . unless your fellow authors are complaining about there being too many on the same topic. . . in fact it was a grass roots consensus by regular posters HERE to have ONE thread to discuss results from KDP select. There are also a couple of general, or more specific, celebratory threads here in the Cafe. People will still start others -- we're o.k. with that unless, as I say, we get a lot of reports that someone is overdoing it. But, in the Bazaar, if you start a thread, and it's about a book that already has one, that thread will likely be deleted -- no matter the reason for the post.

Catherine, I did see your NYT Bestseller thread, but I'm not sure where you posted it--may have been Bazaar? I noticed your book a couple months ago having great sales and glad it continued. Congratulations!

Note that you can also modify any of your prior posts in your book thread to include new exciting information. AND there is a Virtual Pub thread here in the Writers' Cafe where you can celebrate good news!
Congrats on the NYT Bestseller, Catherine!

I understand that it is time consuming to tell everyone the rules over and over. Sadly, when you're on as many forums and loops as many of us are, it's hard to keep the rules fresh in our minds.
Thank you for the explanation. I'm sorry that the large thread about the USA Today was deleted. I do feel this is a win for Team Indie. United we stand and all that...
