Newbie question: Publishing to other eBook retailers

I'm assuming most authors on this board publish on other retail outlets beyond Amazon. I was just on the B&N site, and I couldn't find anyway to publish directly to the nook and sell on their site. Am I missing something, or is that why Smashwords does so well -- because they offer a service we can't get on our own?

What about the other eBook retailers? Where else do you publish, and how do you get into those stores.

You can publish to B&N directly via PubIt.

You can also publish directly to Apple's iTunes iBookstore if you have a Mac via Connect:

Depending on your genre, there are a few other sites All Romance eBooks, etc that you might consider publishing directly with.
