I have a dilemma with our new children's faerie book and could use some help.   We have someone who is doing the format and she suggested we offer the book in print as well as ebook.   I don't have any experience with Createspace. Do I need to give her a separate manuscript for print?  I have asked her some questions, but usually people here help me understand more clearly.

We also have a logo for our new book. Would we attach a jpg for that because we would like to see it above each chapter?   I was hoping some other writers have experienced something similar formatting their book.   We have over 10 illustrations ( my husband just added a couple more)   When I read the information on offering a print book with Bookbaby it was around 500.00 and even though they published our first ebook we decided against it.  Heather who is formatting the book said she had experience with formatting for Createspace so it should be okay. I was wondering is it better to offer ebook format first and then print version later or at the same time.

As you can see, totally confused here.   BTW this book is only 100 pages.

Thanks, Elaine

First, CreateSpace is free unless you choose the extended option which is $25.  When you gave Heather the manuscript, did you give it to her in .doc format?  She should be able to work with that for CreateSpace.  The little pics above each chapter:  if she's doing the formatting for you, give her the pics and she should be able to handle that, too.

Personally, I do print first and ebook later, but there are a lot of people who only do ebooks.  I like to see what I've created before I send it off into the world.

All you do with createspace is submit it in PDF form. So your formatter will just have to add the little logo above each chapter and then she'll save it as a PDF (given that she has it in .doc format) and then she'll upload it. Not a big deal. Most of us do it on our own.

Then when you upload your book to Amazon and B&N the two books will eventually link together (or you can email Amazon and B&N to do it quicker) on the same page. If you click on the first book in my sig you'll see the two buying options for mine - kindle and paperback - the paperback is through createspace.
