Ok I am noticing in several threads and on a few different avatars and also in some peoples signature lines I am seeing a white box with a red "X" displayed instead of the correct image. It is usually where a graphic or image would normally be.

Is this a boards problem or am I having computer problems? I haven't noticed it on any other webpages that I can think of.

kool. . . I haven't noticed anything. . . sounds like you could have low memory, or you turned off images somehow.  I'm going to move this to the forum tips board since it's more a forum/computer issue than a Kindle issue.

thanks for understanding.

Or it could have been the server for those images was down. My images are hosted through Photobucket so if they have down time, all my images would show as red xes instead.

Mona has given you the most likely scenario. Most people have their images hosted on a service like Photobucket or Flickr, and if there is a server problem with these hosting sites, any picture that is linked to these sites will appear as a white box with a red X.

Or your browser might be blocking images from certain sites.  If you're at work, some companies filter some image sites.

Thanks for the tips. I don't think its anything already suggested because I am on my personal computer (not work) so nothing should be blocked. Also it wasn't any pictures/images from photobucket etc.

This thread below Here is an example of what I keep seeing:

http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,10215.0.html

If you notice on my post the pictures didn't show up. I used the same tags I always use but it only showed as red X'es in the white boxes. Those

That is the same type of error display I am seeing in several random places around the board. That thread above happened to be my own post so that's why I noticed it, but I have seen the images error(red x'es) show up on my screen even from other peoples posts/avatars?

Any ideas? TIA

I think I can help, kool - - in that particular post, the address between the IMG links is not a proper address for an image.

Code:
[img]http://www.oberondesign.com/shop/cart.php?m=popup&id=2055[/img]
[img]http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm/4,17396.html[/img]

Most likely, the "link location" was copied instead of the "image location". Image locations usually end in a suffix like .jpg.

AHHHHHH YES! Thank you so much Harvery! That is exactly what the problem was. I knew I hadn't put in the wrong img tags so thats why I was very confused.

That totally fixed it and I went back and changed/corrected the images in my other post. Now the images show up correctly. Thanks again.

I have wondered about this as well. Glad to know it wasn't just me. Harvey is the best. Smiley
