I mainly want use it for reading novels, comics/Japanese manga. I wouldn't have mind being able to play a bit of music or a movie on it but seeing as the Kfire is capped at a ridiculously low storage space (8gb, correct me if I'm wrong) I decided on one solely for reading. 1 question is, can I put my own comics and reading material into the device seeing as the online store will probably not have some book or comic that I am looking for? like a pdf file?

is there one where I can have access to internet on a browser as well? 3G preferably? this is so I have a choice of reading my manga on a website.

You can load your own content if it's DRM free but eInk devices aren't ideal for color comics and PDFs. It sounds like you'd be better off with a color screen which means the Fire.

Agreed on the Fire if you're into comics. If it's mostly manga (which is usually B&W), I'd go with an e-ink display. You can load PDFs. Not sure about CBRs or any of the comic files; I think you have to convert them first.

I use a special program to get manga's on my kindle, I use my kindle a lot to read manga on (since the since of the screen is almost the same size as a page).
I made a blogpost on the program: http://kiazishiru.wordpress.com/2011/05/29/manga-and-fanfiction/

also if you want to have free internet I would go with the 3g keyboard version of the kindle, the newer 3g versions won't let you browse freely when you're just on 3g.

unless my information is wrong... on the 3g touch you can only browse wikipedia and the amazon store when you are connected through 3g, when you connect through wifi you can go everywhere.

This is true. . . .

The reason is that Amazon is paying for the 3G.  I mean, they called it "free" but that meant free to YOU -- not free to THEM!  They still had to pay ATT for the bandwidth! Cheesy My theory is that they locked it down because, while they wanted people to have access to THEIR site they didn't feel like they should be subsidizing all of a person's browsing.

Which I can't really argue with.  Undecided

Sure it's convenient in an emergency, but most people nowadays who have a need for a browser on the go, probably have some other device available that works better -- even if they do have to pay for it themselves. Roll Eyes  I always found the Kindle browser frustratingly slow -- more like slogging through the wet sand on the shore of the internet than surfing it.  Smiley

hey,
you are referring to the 3G Keyboard version right?
I did a little research and it seems that the Kindle Touch 3G will only let you access the #1 Amazon Book store and #2 Wikipedia via 3G... shucks. I was really hoping I could have at least be able to use Google on it.

also, forgive me for what might seem like a really silly question - you don't have to have to be connected to the internet on the Kindle to use the dictionary while reading right?
