Thorn In The Flesh I haven't read it Lizzy but after your post on another thread, I ordered a sample. We seem to like the same books.

I hope this is the right place to post this (sorry if not!), but Linda has asked if I'd like to help lead the discussion on Thorn in the Flesh if that's one of the eBooks chosen at any stage. I'm more than happy to do that of course, and thank you, Linda, for thinking of me! Also thanks to Lizzy for the above suggestion.
Hugs!

I'd like to comment on the books I've already read (and perhaps join when a decision is made). Marley & Me by John Grogan : As a former breeder of labradors I loathed this book! For heaven's sake, TRAIN the poor dog instead of letting it be a neurotic, destructive monster; find another way to make money with a book/movie. Grr. I read it and bookcrossed it away. The Princess Bride by William Goldman: I know this is popular.. Read it, it was ok, wouldn't read again. Loving Frank by Nancy Horan Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs: I loved this book, have it in paperback and it would be a good read for a club and there is also a sequel now. Free Book: The Buried Pyramid by Jane Lindskold Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd: What a lovely book. I was in an online book club for this book a few years ago and everyone just loved the book! Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen: I've read this book and uh.. I think I liked it The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson: I've read this book and it would make a very good book club read! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OT8GTO?ie=UTF8&tag=kindleboards-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000OT8GTOReader by Bernhard Schlink http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FC1K66?ie=UTF8&tag=kindleboards-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000FC1K66The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman: This might be good. I've read the sample and it is one I may buy in time. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GXF2R6?ie=UTF8&tag=kindleboards-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001GXF2R6And I just d/l a sample of Thorn in the Flesh.. sounds like I'd be interested in that and having the author involved!! === And a new suggestion for the list for the future.. I was in an online book club that read a book called Finding Fish by Antwone Q Fisher. This was made into a very good movie called Antwone Fisher. What an amazing young man is Antwone and he overcame a horrible childhood and is quite the success story. I promise I'll learn to do links but I'm about to run out the door right now. Not sure my link will work but we will see http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_kinc?url=node%3D154606011&field-keywords=Finding+Fish+Antwone+Fisher&x=12&y=17 And yes, Finding Fish is available on Kindle.

I didn't know where else to post this. It's the British cover. Marginally more interesting than the U.S. version IMH(?)O.

I'll also mention that today's edition of the weekly Arkansas Times (one of our city's two "alternative" weekly newspapers) did a "Best/Worst of Arkansas in 2008" article and named Charlaine Harris as the "Best Charlaine" in our state of the year.

It's the original cover, not just the British cover. I had that one in both hb and pb, but they both disappeared on me. The new issues have that generic blue cover. Ick. But thanks for thinking of us.

It was meant as a screensaver for those of you in the book klub. But I found the right thread in which to post it.

Never ending... Now that the holidays are over, I'm going to work on scheduling the next rounds of book klubs, getting subboards (I hope), and then post some new books for the polls. Or close this one and start a new one... Lots of books have been proposed... I need to sit and draw a venn diagram or something. : ) It does look like Princess Bride may be one of the books we do next. Betsy

I would love to see a book club with any books by Lisa Gardner, Laura Lippman, or Harlen Cobin. All three of these are terrific suspense/mystery/crime writers (I look up to all of them for being masters of their craft and writing books that nearly impossible to put down). Three favorites by these authors: Hide--Lisa Gardner Every Secret Thing--Laura Lippman Tell No One--Harlen Cobin

I love Lisa Gardner's books. I think I've read Lippman and Cobin but it was quite awhile ago. I'll have to give them another read.

I second The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It was a Seriously Good Book.
I'd happily read it again! (and I don't often say that. . . .)

Both very good books. In Legend, I always wondered what happened to the motorcycle.
