Is there an easier way to remove of screensavers. I can not find the folders that are listed in the FAQ. I have tried to reset my kindle which had reset them in the past..

I know that you have to opt to view hidden files and folders and also opt to view hidden system folders.

Then you need to go into the system folder then delete the screen_saver folder

I would double check the instructions under Leslies FAQ stickie thread for the K1, though....I was able to reset all mine before I sold me K1 and it was not hard...

Thanks for the help but I have tried that and the hidden folder will not pop up. I have searched for hidden folders and it will not show up. That is why I was asking for another way.

There are 2 things that you need to change in your control panel of Windows to make it show. Did you change both? Let me go find the detailed instructions on how to find them...

Try this.... (the first time I tried the screensaver hack for K1, I did not uncheck the second one and was just as frustrated as you. I had only changed the first one...not the second...)

First, what operating system do you use? (Windows XP? Windows Vista? Mac/Apple?) This is important because before you start, you HAVE to make sure that you are able to view your "hidden" files and folders. I use Windows XP and the way to make sure that I can view hidden stuff is this:

Start

Control Panel

Folder Options

Click "View" tab (at top)

Scroll down the list: where is says "Hidden Files and Folders" make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected"

Scroll down a bit more and UNcheck the one that says "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

Click OK

This makes sure that you can SEE the folder you need

This information helped. Some how there i one that did not get removed. Weird. Otherwise I am back to the original screensavers
