time and viewing pictures

Should I be able to get the Kindle 2 to tell me what time it is?
If so - how? alt "T" did not work.

'Free kindle' sent me 'translations' of my jpegs - I put them in documents folder. I can't find them to view them. ?? Though I see them in folder.

Also - one short rtf doc was translated but won't show up--? Two others came through.

Very new at this - K2 got here yesterday.

For time:  Press the menu key and you'll see the time displays at the top of the screen. Then Back closes the menu.

don't know about the pictures. . . . . .I'll move this to the Tips,Tricks&Troubleshooting board. . .I'm sure someone can help you out!

I am pretty sure you need to place the pictures in the pictures folder not the documents folder.  A rtf file should have come back as a pdf or whatever document your K2 recognizes and it should be in the documents folder.  

You will view any of your "docs" under your Personal Documents not within your Books on the Kindle.  The pictures should appear as screen savers only if you have hacked the main screen saver folder.

time suggestion worked - silly me.

but I don't have a folder "pictures" - I think there were just 4 - audible, music, system and documents.

Documents were translated into azw & mbp.

Pictures were translated into HTTP - now most have disappeared -?

Try this:

1) make a folder called "pictures" in Kindle root
   drive.
2) put pictures into a sub-folder inside that
   folder. The sub-folder name will be used as the
   "book" name in Home.
3) in Home screen, press Alt-Z. A new "book"
   should appear. Open it to view pictures - next
   page goes to next picture.

Supported formats are jpg, png, gif. After
experimenting, I found that 600x800 jpg BW images
with more than average contrast and more than
average sharpening gave the best viewing on my K2.

In Picture Viewer:
Alt Z   Load picture folders
C       Actual size
F       Full screen
Q       Zoom in
W      Zoom out
R       Rotate picture
5-way   Pan
