My first impressions on the M-Edge e-luminator2

These are my first impressions of the new M-Edge e-Luminator 2 Kindle light. I want to preface this review by saying I've been using the Mighty Bright prior to the M-Edge.

The e_Liminator 2 is a very compact reading light that is designed for the M-Edge covers.  The light fits snugly into my Executive case and folds neatly along the spine of the cover.  The cover closes easily with very little notice of the extra weight.  The light requires 1 AAA battery.  I have been using a rechargeable battery, but I did try an Alkaline battery initially.

At first I thought the light would be too dim, I was used to the Mighty Bright with 3 AAA batteries and two LEDS.  The Mighty Bright was very bright so I did have concerns, until I actually used the new light. I also stated in an earlier post that I could see very little difference between the two positions on the light, high and low.  I have now used the light for two days, I use it when I read at night in bed.  I found the light to be efficient to light up my Kindle even on the Low setting. I did notice when the room was darker that there is a very subtle difference between the High and Low settings.  As I stated earlier I found the low setting worked fine. I don't think you need a lot of light on the face of the Kindle, just enough to make reading comfortable.

I like that it was easy to control the reflection on the face by either moving the arm or adjusting the gooseneck.  I like that it folds neatly and I always have the light nearby.  Since I have only had it for two days I can't speak for battery life but I'll get back to you on that later.

I liked the Mighty Bright but it really didn't sit right on the top of my cover.  It would slide around and I'd have to adjust it.  It was a good light and provided lots of light to the surface of the kindle.  I will keep it around for a spare or for DTB reading (If I ever do that again).

So far I am very pleased with my e-Luminator 2 light. I'm anxious to hear what the other owners think.

How long do the batteries last?

I only use it about an hour a day but my rechargeable batteries have lasted several weeks.

I agree; I love the e-luminator light; I also love the whole m-edge system; I often use a Prodigy or Latitude jacket; currently using my new Oberon, and testing out lights: Verilux, Mighty Bright, Kandle; so far I like the Mighty Bright best but haven't really given them all a good try yet.

I bought an M-Edge e-Luminator 2 along with a Platform jacket when I bought my Kindle DX.  The jacket is designed to take the e-Luminator so it fits perfectly and is unobtrusive when not in use.  I don't use the light that much, but on a recent nighttime flight, the e-Luminator did a much better job of lighting up the Kindle than using the overhead light.
