I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow.  I'll probably post the discussion for Part 9 (the end) on Sunday or Monday night.

Not much meat (or bison) to this part, but one major development.

Part 8 - A-Hunting We Will Go
Chapters 89 - 95

1.  What do you think would have happened if Jamie had died from the snake bite?

2.  Do you think Claire would have kept her promise not to cut of Jamie’s leg if it was the only way to save him?  Would he have forgiven her if he’d lived?

3.  What did you think of Bree and Claire killing the bison?

4.  Do you think Jamie could actually have gone through with willing himself to die if Claire hadn’t been with him?

5.  What was your first impression of Tom Christie and his family?

6.  Do you think Roger should have waited to consult with Jamie before accepting Christie as a tenant?

7.  What did you think of Christie’s story as told by Kenny Lindsay?

8.  What did you think of Jamie’s story of his killing of Billy Murchison?  Did you think when you first heard about his death that Jamie had done it?  What do you think set him off?

1.  What do you think would have happened if Jamie had died from the snake bite?
I guess they would carry on, between Claire, Fergus, Roger and Bree, but it wouldn’t be the same, and I don’t know how long they could carry it off.

2.  Do you think Claire would have kept her promise not to cut off Jamie’s leg if it was the only way to save him?  Would he have forgiven her if he’d lived?
I don’t know.  I don’t think she could let him die.  He might forgive her, but he would be a broken man.  Then again with that in mind she might be willing to let him go.

3.  What did you think of Bree and Claire killing the bison?
   Unbelievable!

4.  Do you think Jamie could actually have gone through with willing himself to die if Claire hadn’t been with him?
Sounds as though he had a near death experience.  Claire touching him helped to pull him back.

5.  What was your first impression of Tom Christie and his family?
I thought he was who he said he was.  He did expect to see Jamie, therefore he wouldn't have misrepresented himself.

6.  Do you think Roger should have waited to consult with Jamie before accepting Christie as a tenant?
Since Jamie was well enough to converse some, he could have waited an hour or so to consult him.

7.  What did you think of Christie’s story as told by Kenny Lindsay?
Well there was definitely a rivalry between Christie and Jamie.  It did seem they learned to coexist, but this may come back to haunt Jamie.

8.  What did you think of Jamie’s story of his killing of Billy Murchison?  Did you think when you first heard about his death that Jamie had done it?  What do you think set him off?
I never expected that it was Jamie who killed him.  No wonder he told Claire that he was an “evil man”, he’s done some ruthless things.  I guess the fact that Murchison could steal from his own countrymen and treat them cruelly, was more than Jamie could take.

Without Jamie, I'm not sure Claire, Bree and Roger would stay.  Of course, a lot depends on Jemmy being able to travel.

I think she would do it.  She's not about to let Jamie go.  She pulled him back in the Abbey, and I know she has faith she could do it again.  It would take Jamie a while to work himself around to accepting what happened, but Jamie is nothing if not resilient.

True.  There was no point in misrepresenting himself.  He might have been concerned that Jamie wouldn't accept him as a tenant, but that's all.

I originally thought that all the men had a hand in killing Murchison, so I was surprised that Jamie did it himself.  I think that poke in the ribs that Murchison gave him was just the last straw.  Christie was probably counting on the fact that he witnessed to murder to force Jamie to accept him as a tenant.  That's why he was a bit taken aback that he had to deal with Roger.

I didn't think of that possibility.  Of course they would leave and come back to modern times.  Jamie had a strong sense of responsibility to his tenants, but Claire, Roger and Bree would have no reason to stay.

You're right, Jamie is a survivor, he'd eventually adapt to whatever condition he found himself in.  He survived living in a cave for seven years for Pete's sake and now he has Claire with him.

Well, I am finally back. Finished class and just got back from a conference. Got to read some while gone, so here are my answers.
Part 8 - A-Hunting We Will Go
Chapters 89 - 95

1.  What do you think would have happened if Jamie had died from the snake bite?
I think Claire and Roger would have taken Bree and Jemmy back through the stones. I don't think Claire could have stayed without Jamie. It would also be much safer for Roger, Bree and Jemmy.

2.  Do you think Claire would have kept her promise not to cut of Jamie’s leg if it was the only way to save him?  Would he have forgiven her if he’d lived?
Claire would do anything to keep Jamie with her, even to taking his leg. I think he may have eventually forgiven her, but that act would always be between them.

3.  What did you think of Bree and Claire killing the bison?
Typical Claire. Bree is finally showing she can handle herself in this time.

4.  Do you think Jamie could actually have gone through with willing himself to die if Claire hadn’t been with him?
He had already suffered so much. Without Claire, there would have been nothing to keep him.

5.  What was your first impression of Tom Christie and his family?
Interesting to watch.

6.  Do you think Roger should have waited to consult with Jamie before accepting Christie as a tenant?
No. This was Roger's first test of being able to step up as the head of the family.

7.  What did you think of Christie’s story as told by Kenny Lindsay?
Jamie will need to watch his back. Christie must have had no other place to go.

8.  What did you think of Jamie’s story of his killing of Billy Murchison?  Did you think when you first heard about his death that Jamie had done it?  What do you think set him off?
I always thought he at least had a part in it. Jamie was protecting his men.

Good to see you back, Teresa.  I'm on vacation this week and just checking in.  I'll probably start posting ABOSAA discussions on Monday.
