My poor husband

I had to take my husband in for a procedure this morning to the hosptial (nothing serious) but he was in recovery and coming out of it when the nurse came to to give me some post hosptial instructions.

Here he is trying to get dressed and she is asking about my Kindle.. next thing you know two other nurses roll in and we are having a kindle demo right in the middle of hubby in a drug induced fog trying to find his clothes ..

The power of the kindle.. even he (who is not a Kindle convert but I am working on it) took center stage in the middle of the surgical ward

Onto the rest:   Oh too funny!  I can totally see it happening.  I've taken my IPOD ITouch and gotten people staring at it, asking questions. (hasn't anyone seen one of those?  Not around here apparently)    I can hardly wait to take my prospective Kindle out in the world.  I've actually never seen one in the wild, so I suspect people will be amazed.   

Bet the staff wanted one of their own.

I had my Iphone in the chair too she did mention that I was quite "plugged in" and you are right one nurse wrote down the info and said her niece had mentioned something about this but was not sure what it was.. now she understood.. hubby is okay though he just rolled his eyes.. he used to my gadgets (I am the electronics geek in our house) and the questions that come with them

It is kind of fun being an "early adopter" to a new technology and having people around you noticing and asking questions. Just asking questions shows that they enjoy reading, so that gives us a common interest to begin with.

I've been very happily married for 25+ years, but it just occurred to me that carrying a Kindle around might be an effective way for a single person to met a kindred spirit, at least someone who shares the love of reading.

Unfortunately, most of the people who have asked me about my kindle have been female, traveling with a girlfriend or group, married, or incredibly fricking crazy!

lol I guess I never think about being an early adaptor I find myself suprised that people have not heard of it but I have always been a bit of a tech geek, I have had one so long I dont even think about it.

I have had few men ask though.. maybe it was a way to just chat.. LOL  I think it runs women ask more then men but men have the sense to sometimes just leave you alone when you read.. LOL

So funny. I was sitting in the waiting room for an MRI and had my Kindle out reading. One of the other patients asked me about my Kindle. He was trying to be really quiet and with my hearing I didn't notice. Finally he reached over and tapped me on the shoulder. I don't know who was more startled. I nearly jumped out of the chair and he jumped back so hard he almost knocked his chair over. After we both got our breath back I gave him a demo. He said he had been looking at them and was going home and ordering it.

I did tell him to come to KindleBoards and use our link to buy it. I hope he did.

Scarlet -- what happened? I have only recently felt comfortable reading on my K2 on the NYC subway and love the ability to change pages with one hand while I hang on to the rail with the other, but I am wondering what type of encounters I might need to prepare myself for (I haven't yet been asked about my K2 on the subway). Thanks!
