I have a freind that is an excellent author.  He has been working on a sci-fi book for the last several years.  At this time, he has enough material for a three book series. The story line is fantastic, his words take you to the places in his story so vivdly you can actually see them!  He has not gotten anything published, lack of funds and relatively little or no support at home.  How would he go about "getting published" for the Kindle?  I would really like to see him get at least one book out there to see how it goes for him.

Judith--

I wrote an article that includes the steps of creating a version of a book for Kindle. You can read about it here: http://www.redroom.com/blog/christopher-meeks/kindle-the-emerging-elephant-room. I then wrote a second article on how to get one's first book out at http://www.redroom.com/blog/christopher-meeks/self-publishing-vs-%E2%80%9Creal%E2%80%9D-publishing-%E2%80%93-how-to-get-your-first-book-out.

I hope that helps.

Here's a thread in the bazaar about Ed Patterson's free book:  http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,7577.0.html

And there are many other discussion threads in that section as well about writing and publishing for Kindle.  And lots of folks who will help you out.

BE SURE TO POST on these boards (Book Bazaar, I believe would be appropriate) when his book is published. We're great fans and supporters of new authors.
