Product Description
A preacher's son, a father in hiding, a guilty heart filled with secrets: When Jesse Barlow escaped to Hollywood, he hungered for fame--but eleven years of failure result in a drug-induced suicide attempt. Revived at death's doorstep, Jesse returns to his Ohio hometown to make amends with his preacher father, a former love, and Jesse's own secret son. But Jesse's renewed commitment becomes a baptism by fire when his son's advanced illness calls for a sacrifice--one that could cost Jesse the very life he regained. A story of mercy, hope, and second chances, From The Dead captures the human spirit with tragedy and joy.

Hi everyone:

I'm wondering how to get an audiobook version of my work?  What has been your experience with different companies, prices and pros and cons?  Is it worth it right away or should I wait to see how the e-book version does, before investing in an audiobook?

Same question with regard to print books vs e-books?  Should they be marketed simultaneously or first e-books?  How do printed books do, compared to e-books?

Lots of questions, so thank you in advance for your replies.

Ethan

The market for audiobooks is much smaller, so it's a good idea to see how your book sells in other formats before investing in an audiobook.

I have done 2 with ACX (www.acx.com), and I am very happy with the productions. I did Royalty Share for one (you pay nothing upfront) and paid the narrator for the other one (a novella, so it was not a large sum).

Right now, my print books are selling better than my e-books.  And since Amazon discontinued the pro plan, which cost forty dollars, it's pretty much free to do a print book.  "Expanded distribution" is twenty-five dollars, but you don't have to do that right away.

I used ACX.com, too. Lots of talent, generally affordable rates, wide distribution.
