I have a friend who is looking for a hard-sided case.  Does anybody know of one?  I remember one for the K1, cut can't find any for the Kindle 2.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi:

I found these:

Green Amazon Kindle 2 Hard Shell Carrying Case
http://www.amazon.com/Green-Amazon-Kindle-Carrying-Reading/dp/B001TM06AM

When I get my K2, I think I'm going to get a custom skin...

...this case
Amazon Kindle 2 Crystal Hard Case Clear
http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Generation-Protective-Crystal-Accessory/dp/B00286N7HC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1256448889&sr=8-2

and get one of the zippered cases

Hopefully that will help somehow

Here is a post I saved.  Sorry to say I don't have the photos, and couldn't find the original post for you.

Platt makes a double walled, blow molded case that seems to work nicely as a hard case for the Kindle 2 and its cover.  The case has a strong latch and comes with a layer of "cubed foam" for easy customization.  (The case can be found online.  One site, CSN, has it for $23 and free shipping.)

The Platt 206 case (pictured below) has external dimensions: 2 1/4" H x 10 1/2" W x 7" D and internal dimensions: 1 15/16" H x 9 1/2" W x 6" D.  It has 3 layers of foam; the middle, customizable layer is 3/4" thick...

Which is really cool, because the Kindle 2 inside of the Amazon cover is 3/4" thick as well.

It was a pretty simple matter to modify the case-- cut the cubed foam to provide a 3/4" x 3/4" strip of foam along the top and bottom of the case (since there's 1.5" of free space in the 9 1/2" dimension) and two 3/8" x 1/4" strips of foam along the hinge side of the case.  A little glue to hold the foam in place and it was done-- we're left with a nice Kindle 2 sized cavity.

EDIT:  KindleChaos.com does not seem to be a working site, their cart is buggy, I wouldn't use them, unless you can call and actually talk with someone and verify they are legit.  Is a shame, I liked the full cover silicone skin.

I found KindleChaos.com - hard shells
the UltraVu is my favorite, several colors available

They look as though they'd provide a lot of protection, very sturdy

They have some interesting skins that cover the keypad as well - isn't what you asked for exactly, but interesting
