Read on my FB page and had a quick exchange - fingers crossed.

DecalGirl - So we (the creative/development team) are sitting down early next week to map out what we're doing for the next few months. We've got some projects we know you'll like, but we'd like your input on features, functions and other stuff you think we should add. Let's have it - what do you think we need?

Debi/F1Wild - What I would really love to see (and have also heard of many others on KindleBoards wanting the same thing) is skins with some sort of glare-free or less shiny surface - a matte quality!! Also, maybe something with a slight texture - whether it be just a rougher surface, some sort of cross-hatch pattern, or other.

DecalGirl @Debi - we've experimented with matte finish skins; the laminate material is a bit more (we use it extensively in our TrackWraps product line). Do you think it would be something where a slight up-charge is acceptable?

Debi/F1Wild - Sure!! You know the peeps over at KindleBoards, right? I mean look at how many of us are willing to pay whatever we have to for a custom skin. They would be a huge hit, especially if you offered a deal or special offer (maybe just the first to be able to buy) for us here at FB or KB!

Just got this reply (about 10 mins ago):
DecalGirl @Debi/F1Wild - we've got a plan together for this. Look for the option to appear on the Kindle, Kindle 2 and Kindle DX within the next week.

So cool! It's nice that they actually want opinions and take them seriously. You had great ideas! They're all things I would definitely like to see as well.

I'm excited!  The glare doesn't really bother me here at home but when I'm at work the lighting there causes major glare on my Kindle skin.  There are days when it bugs me so much I stick post-it notes all over the front so I can read without the glare distraction!

Just in from DecalGirl - matte/satin finish!!!!!  A big cheers to DecalGirl for taking my (and I'm sure others') pre-Christmas suggestion and making it a reality before New Years!!

DecalGirl By request, we've just added a "Matte/Satin" option to the Amazon Kindle product line. Testing went great - the matte finish is low friction, immune to fingerprints and goes on even easier than the standard glossy finish.

Just got this from DecalGirl - they are awesome!!!!!
Subject: DecalGirl Coupon Code

Thanks for the suggestion re: matte finish.  I'm a big fan of matte, and we've used it for some other projects but didn't really consider putting it on the skins until you asked.  Once the logistics were worked out and the samples were done - it was a no-brainer ... they're fantastic.

We just set up this $25 code as our way of saying thanks for the suggestion (secretcode).  Grab yourself a new Kindle skin and let us know what you think when you get it.

Thanks again,

That's pretty cool.  The video shows it off very nicely, although I admit that I do like glossy things.  The shinier the better!  But the "immune to fingerprints" part is nice.  Those who order matte skins must please review it on Kindle Boards, I'd like to know if you think it feels better than the glossy vinyl.

I've already asked if I can order my custom skin in the matte finish.  Love the skin, but always disliked the glare I get from the light when I change positions.  Not that big of a deal, but when you are reading in bed, in a dark room that little bit of glare can be like a Klieg light right in the eye.

I was interested in the Matte finish until I noticed that it was going to cost 5.00 more.  It looks like I will be staying with the Glossy finish.

They said the material itself was a wee bit more expensive and asked if I thought customers would pay more.  I said yes, but for a nominal fee.  Worth it to me.

BTW, the Secret Code is not "secretcode"... thank goodness I am not so blonde today.

And additionally (I would think eventually they will be the same price):
DecalGirl @Kelly - the thing is, we produce thousands of skins daily that can all be grouped together to keep prices down. The matte finish is unique to this product line and requires that they be produced separately; there needs to be some way to cover those costs. It's just like when you order a new Macbook and choose the "anti-glare" screen option - it's an extra $100 because of the difference in material price and volume.

As the volume builds, we'll bring the pricing down...

Don't forget there are frequent codes with Decalgirl.  I think PSPHOME is good almost always.  Grin

That's great news!  I love it when companies actively react to customer feedback.   Grin

I had been debating on purchasing the Library skin for my K2 and now that the matte finish is available, I am definitely going to order it.  I love my current and only skin (Amy's Flower), but the glare does bother me a bit and that Library skin is gorgeous!!!

Also, the PSPHOME discount code still works and is good for 10% off.  I believe it used to be 15%, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the information!!!!

Wonder if I could use my GC and a discount code on a custom skin?  Probably not, but the thought of it makes me tingly.

I suggested designs with softer colors. Most of what they currently offer would be too distracting for me.
