I got a replacement kindle today as Lady Mara was having some difficulties.  I went to switch her skin to the new one and I surprised it was attached as tightly as it was  (which is probably good) but I stretched the front cover out of shape taking it off and now it won't lay correctly.  So, first question is:  will it unstretch?   Smiley  Assuming no, and after I buy a replacement, is there a special thing I needed to do to take it off that I need for future reference?

So you are trying to preserve the skin you removed?

Try hitting it with a hairdryer on low.

I would try the hairdryer on low or let it sit for a bit.  I think luvmy4brats had luck doing that.

I have had luck in putting skins on one Kindle to another.  I just took off a DecalGirl skin yesterday and may eventually use it again.

Good luck!

blow dryer .... good idea .... but I'll have to try the wait and see option as I don't have a dryer .....

So, ravenclawperfect, did you do anything special to take it off?

No, I just went very slowly and tried to take it off as evenly as possible.  I started at the top corners, peeled downwards.  Once it acted like it wanted to start stretching, I switched to peeling upwards from the bottom corners until it got up to where it was already peeled off.  This was on the front.  The back cover peeled over pretty evenly all the way down.

Hi Geoffrey,

If you order skins from them and have trouble installing them, they will send you a replacement free. They have an installation guarantee. You have to pay postage, but it is a great deal.  Just thought you'd like to know that.

They also are beginning to make matte finish skins. I do not like how they look. But she said they are hot, hot, hot. I think not, not not. They dull down the skin and make it look less shiny and new. But she said there is a huge demand for the matte.   For anybody interested check out  facebook.com/decalgirl and you'll see a video comparing the two skins.

Everyman, it gets weirder, I purchased my 1st kindle skin for k2 when decalgirl 1st started making them. I just ordered another one yesterday for my k2i. I say your post and was concerned because I don't want to put that much effort into putting one on. So I called Decalgirl and asked them if they size/shape or anything had changed besides offering matte. And they told me "No, we haven't changed anything about the sizing or shape that should be any different than any of our k2 skins you have bought in the past." So, I don't know what to think. I decided to not cancel my order and wait and see. But, very strange to get such different answers.

The skin did mostly go back to its original shape - but there are still some stretchmarks around the corners and edges (and how I know that feeling).   So I guess removing it from Lady Mara didn't go so well, but that just gives me an excuse to get a new skin and a new look for Lady Neku ...

I'd like to hear more feedback about the new matte DecalGirl skins from anyone who has used both...is the high gloss really glossy?  is the matte too flat looking?  I like the matte finish of my K2 but don't like the plain white and need a skin to dress it up.

Thanks!  And thanks to DecalGirl for listening to it's customers!

Matte vs. shiny – I think it could depend on the design. Some might look good with a matte finish and some with a shiny.

I just ordered the Rosewood in Matte ... hopefully using it with my light on will make the whole thing less shiny.
