And very similar to the one I asked about my Acura's Nav system on an Acura board many moons ago but was far too chicken to implement the hack (ahem I mean fix).

I noticed on the Show your Oberon cover thread people had sleep screen pics that matched their skins or other things.  I haven't seen those screens on my Kindle, and was wondering, how someone customizes their sleep screen?

Is this a hack?  And would it void my warranty?

Yes it is a hack. Amazon has said it will not void your warranty. You do have to remove any hacks to receive any Kindle systems upgrades, but it is no big deal. This website by Nogdog, one of our members, has all the pertinent info:

Thanks you rock!  I notice the directions are covered in the "READ ME FIRST" thread, maybe one day I'll actually read those first! Tongue

Thanks for the info about the warranty!

If you're set on having your screensaver match your Kindle's skin, pretty much the only way to do it is to have a custom skin made, so that you have the image that the front skin was made from. Then it's a fiddly repeat of looking at where the skin cutout for the screen is, cropping and resizing to fit when it doesn't quite match up, as in this example from my Kindle:

You can see that the left slope of Mt. Fuji doesn't quite line up in the lower-right corner of the screensaver image.

When you're working with the original skin image, crop to the 3:4 proportions first, then resize to 600x800; this preserves maximum image resolution.
