Here's an eReader with a built-in display cover... a good idea. I'm kind of liking these 5-inch readers, although for serious long-form reading I think the 6-inch is more convenient. Pocketbook had a wide variety of models on display.

Wow, I really like the form factor of this one. Seems like it'd be great for kids too!

I like this one! If it will read ePub and has a reasonable price, I might go for that if I cant afford the Apple tablet (yeah, like that's in doubt).

You know, if Amazon were smart, they would start licensing their AZW format to other eReader companys so they could sell books the books. I REALLY think they're missing out on a great opportunity to get the AZW format established as a major form factor.

My guess is that the e-reader market is too new. Amazon wants to be the "default" choice. If they can dominate in e-book sales and stay ahead in e-readers, other companies will give up. At some point I figure they want an Apple like model, where you upgrade your e-reader every few years and stick with the Kindle because you are vested. Once they have a clear grip on the market, they may relax their DRM.
I bet the publishers are also a factor, they probably have stringent rules on what can read certain e-books. They are probably terrified of an open e-book format like the .mpg (though I think it already exists) that would fuel widespread e-book piracy. For them, fractioning the market is a good thing.

This one looks way cool! I wonder if you can read Overdrive library books on it. Thanks for sharing all the cool videos, Harvey.

Like the cover concept, even if it only has 2 colors, but how does it read?
