Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

I don't know about the size, I would guess at 7-1/2 to 8 inches. With the strechy cord I can easily say it will comfortably fit an 8 to 8-1/2 inch wrist. It might be a little tight for anything bigger.

I am so happy to hear that you are all enjoying these things! I love getting them and getting to share them!

The bracelets are mongolian silver, and the earrings are mostly silver plated.

So today I got a call from Phai's assisitant, Phai is the lady that owns the store with the auctions, she asked me to come by today if I had the time. So I headed over there and Miss Phai was there and had a gift for me! When I was there last weekend, on Valentine's Day, she had handed gifts to a few of her regular customers, but I had left early. Gift giving is customary in Japan, and many times when you have done something for someone here, they will give you a gift to show their thanks. I was floored when I opened my bag to find a beautiful silk geisha doll, a pair of mongolian silver hand mirrors, and a heart shaped jewelery box with a strand of jade beads inside! The doll was for my daughter, and the beads for my son, the mirrors and jewelery box were for me. It amazes me somtimes, just how thoughtful people can be. I will have to send her some flowers and a thank you note!
Just wanted to share that with you all. It really made my day!
I hope you all have a great day too!

I just got an invite to a "special auction". I have no idea what it will be like, but it is held in the main store out in town, and it is only for 3 hours. I guess it is only for certain customers. I can't wait to see what kind of goodies I can get there! It will be Friday night, so I will post again this weekend with my finds!

I would love a long strand of pearls that had different shades of black and gray, similar to the strand of pastel pearls you posted earlier. Would you mind keeping an eye out for something like that? Thanks!

I will have to send her some flowers and a thank you note!

If it is still like it was when we were there, a gift of nice fresh fruit would be more appreciated than flowers. Seriously, I was given a box with 4 pears in it once, and thought to myself um.. ok, then later I found out that those 4 pears cost Y5200 (about $54), After that, anytime I had a gift to give, I hit the commissary and bought fruit, Finding the nicest I could get, and then wrapping it in some nice fabric. ... Um.. there used to be a fabric store...near Butler/Foster that had fabric  for Y500/meter.

I just have to tell you again how lovely the long strand of chocolate pearls is.  They are such a gorgeous color!  Each one is about 7mm wide and 10-11mm long, and are individually knotted.  Such good quality!  The whole strand is about 48" long, and doubles up so nicely.  I have had 2 strands of white and black pearls for a long time.  They are only 5mm, not individually knotted, and cost a whole lot more.  If anybody is thinking about the long strands, I say go for it!

Thank you again, Mary Ann.  I can't wait to see what you snag this Friday!

I originally wanted the single chocolate or black pearl and I still do.  However, I would love to have a long strand of chocolate pearls like that please.  Many, many thanks!

Me too. I am interested in long strands of pearls.  Also how much are the scentsy samplers you were talking about and what comes in them?

I would also love a large single chocolate or black pearl...or a very large cream/white.

Thank you for that tip. I will do that tomorrow when I go to the auction!

I am still looking for the single pearls. I have seen a couple come up, but not really any nice ones. Every couple weeks there are new shipments with different items, eventually they will have them again.
The long strands...I will keep trying to get as many as I can at auction, I can get them from the store as well, but they are $31 with shipping. If anyone wants me to get one from the shop let me know and I will pick it up, othewise, I wil keep trying to snag some and post them as they come in!

I will see what I can get tomorrow! I will pick up some pearls for sure and whatever else I can get my hands on! There is going to be a lot of jade from what I hear, so maybe I can get some of the lavender jade. It is so beautiful!
