Product Description
This literary thriller revolves around Parker Sloane. When he returns from a dismal foray into third-world cash-smuggling to his childhood home in the woods of New England, it seems he’s seeing his country and his blended stepfamily for the first time—and finding both just as twitchy, desperate, paranoid and unpredictable as the underworld types he thought he’d escaped.

Before he can even unpack, Parker goes head-to-head with his relatives—his tyrannical stepfather, seething younger brother, newly evangelical mother, and his alluring younger half-sister Rita—and with the demons they never exorcised.

Delicately but disastrously, Parker attempts to keep his family from imploding, unaware that they have their own plans for escape. The Moon in Deep Winter combines the dark comedy of the Coen brothers with the doomed lyricism of Denis Johnson, creating an airtight world of homicidal family dysfunction.

Harvey, I just uploaded Episode 78 of the podcast with our conversation at CES. Seems like long ago and far away, but I enjoyed spending time with you again as I put the show together tonight, with 11 minutes to spare ahead of my self-imposed but totally obsessive midnight deadline.
Cheers, Len

I'm a big fan of The Kindle Chronicles podcast and very much enjoyed your insights, Harvey, in your interview from CES with Len Edgerly. I'm an early K1 adopter and owner.

When you talked about the demo you received from BEbooks and mentioned the manufacturer of the display, Wacom, you reminded me of a wonderful, if very dated, piece of hardware we still own made by Wacom. Attached to our vintage 1996 Micron desktop running Windows 95a is an 8x10 Wacom graphics tablet. It's touch sensitive stylus mated with the graphics program Painter4 produces wonderful works of art when wielded by an artist and hours of entertainment in the hands of a klutz. My wife is an artist and I would be the klutz.

My wife was completely computer phobic until I purchased Painter4 and the Wacom graphics tablet and encouraged her to try it. She was hooked immediately and produced hundreds of delightful works of art using the rich set of tools provided by Painter4.

Now, with the evolution of technology, when we are at our winter vacation home and away from that dinosaur desktop she is able to indulge her artistic impulses by finger painting on an IPod Touch with the DoodleBuddy app (a similar although obviously much more limited program and hardware combo than Painter4 and Wacom).

So, I guess my point is that if Wacom has done something with an e-reader display that impressed you I'm not at all surprised.

Unfortunately, it also reminds me that for the cost of that 1996 computer setup I could now buy about 14 Kindles with the upscale Cole Haan leather covers that Len likes.

Your interview also reminded me to click more often on my Kindleboards bookmark which I plan to do.

Listening to the KC is my Saturday morning ritual while I prepare and eat breakfast. It was a great interview (amongst other great Kindle / e-reader news). Nice to hear Harvey's voice talk about our wonderful community. I'm proud to be a member!

That's some interesting history about Wacom... sounds like a company with a rich past as well as a lively future. Thanks, Steve!

I love Len Edgerly's weekly podcast and have been on it several times.  Harvey's interview was excellent as he really has his pulse on the Kindle owners.  It's boards like this and podcasts like Len's that make this such a great hobby- because that really is what this is.  Great reading, great sharing of books and ideas- a reading community.

Keep it up fellow kindlers!!

Hi Everyone:

Len has written a great article called "How I learned to love the Kindle and start a podcast" and I just published it at e-readerfeeder.com http://bit.ly/bA5Qfv. I learned quite a bit about how Kindle users can receive the Kindle Chronicles podcast and get podcasts from other devices.  I have to thank Len again for finding the time to write and send me this well written piece.

I love the Kindle Chronicles.  Len Edgerly had me on as a guest one time, and we had a great conversation.

Someone told me it was like listening two of the world's biggest fans of the Kindle sharing their best stories...!
