So, here's the deal. I charged my Kindle 2i on December 20th, just before leaving to visit family out of state. I've read just about 1.5 books since then (yeah, been busy - sue me!), and my battery has never been charged since. I'm still either AT halfway or just above halfway (can't easily tell).

How insane is that? December 20th till February 3rd, with sporadic reading the whole time - and still at least half battery left.

My wife has the Kindle 2 (not-international), and I'm pretty sure hers gets nowhere near that standby time. And by standby, I mean the Kindle is not powered OFF (it's got the screensaver on). 3G is off in either case, latest firmware.

Nice one, Amazon!

Very nice. I didn't realize that there was so much difference in battery life between K2 & KDX. I thought it's a marketing hype.

I guess they put more quality into "i"s.  How are we non-"i"s worse?   Grin

I've noticed that my K2 gets very good battery life since the update-I've gone two week also, mainly when in standby with reading on it about an hour each day. NOW, my DXi doesn't last nearly as long.  Now since I got the DXi, it is the kindle I tend to read the most on-2-3 hours each day.  But I've found I've had to charge it every 3-4 days.  With both I only put on the Whispernet when I sync between them or when I download a new book, so it's only on for a minute or two.

I AM impressed with how the update has improved my K2's battery life!

My K2 is not an "i" and I also get amazing battery life.  I've had it since July 1 last year, and I have charged it exactly eight times since then.

I read it at least an hour almost every day; I never fully turn it off; and I have Whispernet on very sporadically ... maybe once a week, for however long it takes to download whatever I've added on Amazon in the previous several days.

I have only hooked it up to my computer three times, all of those fairly brief and just for the purpose of transferring some pdf. files.

I do have the 2.3 update, but I can't say that I've noticed much difference in battery life since I got it; it's always been fantastic.
