The stories bring to life the strange possibilities that await us once we cast our lines into known and unknown waters.

Hi, everybody!

I recently bought a used Kindle 1 on eBay and it has barely left my hands since!  My husband & I spend our summers on an island in Canada.  We are "off grid" therefore there is no internet, TV, etc.  The Kindle is perfect for me since I read tons of books and am always searching for more.  We only go "to town" about every week or two and there are no book stores so I plan on loading up the Kindle before we leave.  It will also let us save a bunch of room in the car if I don't have to pack boxes of books, we also take 5 cats with us, so that is a real plus.  I choose the Kindle1 because of the replaceable battery and the extra memory with the SD card.  My only regret is that I didn't know about the Kindle sooner!

I have enjoyed reading the various topics on boards and finally decided to jump in. Smiley

Welcome Debbie and congrats on your Kindle! Please make an intro in the Intro/Welcome Board. You will receive a warm KB welcome. You may want to take your posts off caps since in on line etiquette it is seen as screaming or talking in a loud voice.. Smiley I had to have someone tell me also!

Hi, I've had my Kindle since September.  I've been downloading books from Gutenberg for years, love the old novels especially.  Kept buying smaller and smaller laptops to make it convenient to read on, but my eyes get too tired, got a Kindle and never looked back.  I'm retired so I have more time to read lately.

I ordered a Kindle 2 on Feb 10 for no good reason.  I don't need another Kindle but somehow I had to have it . . . it shipped this morning!

My name is Kathie, and my ID (Latjoe) is what happens when I get my right hand out of position and try to type Kathie  Roll Eyes  I'm thinking of naming my K2 Latjoe.  Or maybe Alt-Font, hyphenated names are kind of distinctive, right?  K1 has the same name she was born with: Kathie's Kindle.

Greetings and Welcome, Kathie! Without careful proofreading and spellcheck, my ID would be worse than the little Abner character, Joe Btfsplk  Mine makes sense when you know I am a interior installer for a Major Biz Jet company.

Hi all, I'm one of the new members of the KindleBoards and soon to be owner of my very first Kindle.  I ordered back in Novemeber, which is good because my order was upgraded to the Kindle2.  It was supposed to be delivered tomorrow but UPS shows it OUT FOR DELIVERY TODAY!!!!  I am anxiously waiting.  I love reading, Digital Photography, exercise and Weather.  I retired 2 months ago and I'm really enjoying the Retired life and looking forward to reading lots of books on my Kindle2.  I'll upload a few pictures as soon as it arrives.

I am JP's daughter..see above! He told me he was getting one and I decided to wait for the next gen one and when I saw the notification on Amazon I immediately called him and pre-ordered mine. I am also anxiously awaiting mine, though I am not sure when it will get here. It has shipped, though. I love to read, always have and this will help me not stockpile so many paperbacks that take up way too much room when me and my husband move. He is active duty Air Force, so we move a lot! I enjoy online roleplaying games (Everquest II), reading, playing with my 3 cats, and playing with Photoshop. Greetings to everyone. Grin
