Hail, Kindlers! I have just joined this community. I am a British book author and journalist, my book The Poet & The Murderer, which Errol Morris calls " masterful " and the NYDailyNews said was " a terrific book, terrifically told", is coming soon to a Kindle near you. In the meantime, I have some other stories that are now Live. I have also just arranged to join Operation EBook Drop for UK armed forces serving in Afghanistan ( and elsewhere). My father was a highly decorated member of SOE in WW2 - so I know a bit about courage. Please feel free to contact me. You can also visit my website @ simonworrallauthor.com.
Happy Kindling!

Simon- welcome to KindleBoards and congratulations on your book and your first post! Your book The Poet and the Murderer looks great, I'm looking forward to it arriving on Kindle. Here's a link to the paper version if anyone wants to check it out. You're welcome to start a thread in the Book Bazaar, the board where we spotlight our authors, for each book on Kindle. We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your books and website in your signature. Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, most of our authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Thanks for being part of KindleBoards! Feel free to PM us if you have any questions. Betsy & Ann Book Bazaar Moderators The fine print: Please add to your existing book threads when you have news about your books rather than start a new one, it helps the members who are trying to follow you. You may have a separate thread for each of your books. We recommend you bookmark your posts so that you can find them in the future. You may respond to all posts, but if there have been no member posts, we ask that you wait a week before "bumping" the threads by posting back-to-back posts of your own. And we ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead. All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum. From time to time our site rules may change; be sure to check Forum Decorum for the current guidelines and rules.

Hi everyone! I'm so glad that someone was nice enough to refer me to this board. My two bosses bought me a Kindle 2 for Christmas....this had to be the best gift they ever gave me! I do have a question for you Kindle experts. I've looked everywhere for the answer, and it seems to be eluding me. When you are reading on the Kindle, there are numbers on the bottom of the screen. I understand the percentage on the left and the location indicator in the center. But what is the number on the bottom right? Thanks in advance for your expertise!

The number on the right is the total number of locations in that book. That's what the % is of.

Hello! I am new to Kindleboards (and Kindles). I just got my Kindle last Tuesday (I really could not wait until Christmas - my fiance got so sick of me he gave it to me early). And I am in love! I can barely tear myself away from this neat little gizmo! And I have learned so much from reading some of these threads - I have posted on a few, too. So thanks to the people on here who are so knowledgeable! I would probably be lost without this site!

I have been a member for a few weeks after purchasing my K2 before a trip out of the country in early December. I find I am finding time to read more and just love always having the K2 near me and allowing me the opportunity to read in so many situations. I have thoroughly enjoyed all that I have learned here and look forward to learning more about this wonderful new addition to my life. Thank you all for all of the enabling that you have been doing. I have recently been doing my fair share to help aid our economy (LOL). Anxious for Oberon to get back to work and get the items I have ordered started! Have received my BB bag and am expecting skins to arrive in the mail anytime! I already have an Amazon cover and a pink M-edge Progidy. Just wanted to say hello and to let all know I have really enjoyed reading all of the posts here.

Greetings and Welcome, New Kindle-owners!! We are so glad you found KindleBoards! We have many areas that you probably will like. Have you been to The Book Corner yet? That's the area for discussions about books (naturally ). That's also where you will find threads about books Recommended by our Members and a list of additional sites for Book Lovers. Then there is the Book Bazaar where our member/authors post about their books and hold discussions about writing, publishing and many other topics. That is also where you will locate Bargain Books and even Free Books threads where you can get reading material at low or no cost! Here is a link to get you started: Master list of free & under $1 titles available from Amazon. If you have a question about your Kindle or it's usage, check out the FAQ or the forum about Tips, Tricks and Trouble Shooting . Or, just ask your question. We have many helpful and knowledgeable people here at KB and we feel there is no such thing as a "dumb" question. Questions about KindleBoards may be answered at Your guide to Forum Speak! linked from Forum tips. If not, once again, ask away! To keep everything running smoothly, we ask that everyone read Forum decorum. Another popular place is Let's Talk Kindle, where all things in the Kindle world are posted about. Be sure and check out the Photo Gallery, where pictures of members, pets, flowers, landscapes or just almost anything interesting can be found. Have you been to the Accessories area? There you will see information about covers, skins, lights, bags, stands and many other items to allow you to personalize your Kindle. Looking to just kill some time while you are waiting for your Kindle or if you have your kindle, want to try something different? Try INFINITY Game - Word Association or The "INFINITY" Thread: KEEP POSTING...Ready, Set,... GO!!! in the Not Quite Kindle area. Sorry for the long post, but there is just so much to do, learn and like about KindleBoards that I just get carried away.

Hi, I’m new. Gave my wife a Kindle last year and didn’t think much more about, other than I had noticed she REALLY liked it. Well, she presented one to me for Christmas this year. I have already been thru 2 books that would be about 300 page paper equivalents each and I’m about 100 pages into Shackelton’s “South”. It seems that I am hooked on this little device. Anyway…Howdy…I’m enjoying myself. Greetings from New Mexico

Hey all! I'm new here! I got a gift certificate for a Kindle for Christmas and have decided to wait patiently for the latest and greatest Kindle! Too many times I've been an early adopter to find improvements and such come out not long after I've purchased. So, I've decided to wait as long as it takes for the Kindle 3. I've looked at all the others and it's the Kindle I want -- no one can beat Amazon customer service! So, I'll just hang out here and wait and enjoy reading all your posts and learn as much as I can!
