Hi! I've had a Kindle 3 since last September (and loved every minute), but this is my first post to Kindle Boards. I'm so glad to be here. Smiley

When my husband bought me my Kindle, I immediately made a custom quilted cover for myself with plexiglass reinforcement for extra protection. Despite several drops since then, my Kindle has always stayed safe and sound inside it. I'm now selling my custom covers on Etsy (international orders ok) and would love for you all to take a look: http://www.etsy.com/listing/66173358/custom-quilted-padded-ereader-cover. Thanks, and happy Tuesday!

Hi, y'all,

I just want to stop in and introduce myself.  I'm a humor/fantasy author with six books, including two young adult vampire/werewolf humor books. My newest is Bonk & Hedz, an adult/YA crossover caveman humor book.

I'm just getting acquainted with the Boards and still learning about avatars and signatures. Those will come soon.

See you around, asquare and other shapes.

Norm

Hey everyone, first I wanted to say thanks Harvey for starting up this site. I'm a huge fan of the kindle. Second, I wanted to introduce myself a little bit. I'm new to the site so I'm still getting my profile and such set up. But, I am a writer. At this point I mainly just do articles for websites here and there, hopefully in the future I will be able to get something published. That's the short introduction to me! If you have any questions feel free to ask  Smiley

Greetings and Welcome, New Kindle-owners and authors!! We are so glad you found KindleBoards, an independent resource for people who own or have interest in Kindle. We have many areas that you probably will like. Have you been to The Book Corner yet?  That's the area for discussions about books (naturally Cheesy ). That's also where you will find threads about books Recommended by our Members and a list of additional sites for Book Lovers.
Then there is the Book Bazaar where our member/authors post about their books and the Writers' Cafe that has discussions about writing, publishing and many other topics. Here is a link to all the KindleBoards authors:Unofficial master list of Kindleboards Authors. That is also where you will locate Bargain Books and even Free Books threads where you can get reading material at low or no cost! Here is a link to get you started: Master list of free & under $1 titles available from Amazon.
If you have a question about your Kindle or it's usage, check out the FAQ or the forum about Tips, Tricks and Trouble Shooting . Or, just ask your question. We have many helpful and knowledgeable people here at KB  and we feel there is no such thing as a "dumb" question. Questions about KindleBoards may be answered at  Forum tips. If not, once again, ask away! To keep everything running smoothly, we ask that everyone read Forum decorum. There are a few points there particularly for authors.  Further questions from authors concerning KB may be answered here: Authors: 7 essential KindleBoards tips.
Another popular place is Let's Talk Kindle, where all things in the Kindle world are posted about. Be sure and check out the Photo Gallery, where pictures of members, pets, flowers, landscapes or just almost anything interesting can be found.
Have you been to the Accessories area? There you will see information about covers, skins, lights, bags, stands and many other items to allow you to personalize your Kindle.
Looking to just kill some time while you are waiting for your Kindle or if you have your kindle, want to try something different? Try INFINITY Game - Word Association or The "INFINITY" Thread: KEEP POSTING...Ready, Set,... GO!!! in the Not Quite Kindle area.
Sorry for the long post, but there is just so much to do, learn and like about KindleBoards that I just get carried away. Smiley

I'm looking for ways to promote my book Sleepless Nights:  The Drew Smith Series to more Kindle readers.  Published on June 1, the sales was robust but have fallen off.  How can I reach more Kindle readers?  Suggestions

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Robert S. Wilson. I do not yet own a Kindle, but I've been using Kindle apps for a while now and I'm the author of the Kindle novella listed in my signature.

I'm a big fan of horror, science fiction, and fantasy and I write in those genres as well. I'm an Indiana native who lives in Tennessee now. It's nice to find such a thriving Kindle community!

Oh, and my first full novel will be coming to Kindle later this month. It's called Shining in Crimson. It's book one of my Empire of Blood series. Scott Nicholson called it, "A big-scale vampire thriller that changes the rules."

Everywhere he goes there's no grass, no people, not even a bird in the sky. Alone in a barren world, James travels west in search of someone, anyone who might have survived The Quiet. 99 cents!

My first time here, I'm excited!  (Also, to be honest, somewhat confused.)  I'm a Tucson writer, with eight novels on Kindle, and just added two novellas and a short story collection.  I hope you'll check out my newbies, they're the ones at the bottom of the list, entitled, MATH, RUNAWAY, and THE FOUNTAIN, only $0.99!
Soon as I figure out how to navigate this hummer, I'm looking forward to getting acquainted. Why is that little M flirting with me?  Scary!  Elizabeth Gunn

Hi,
I am about to buy my first kindle. I have heard so much about it, but I am still not sure how good it really is and specially if anyone knows if I should go for the normal one or the 3G.
Any information will be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I just wanted to drop by and introduce myself. I'm a fantasy author who plans on publishing on Kindle in the near future (before the end of the year). I'll share details of that later. I think the only thing I'm confused about is how to use avatars and signatures. I only have the option under profile for "account related settings" and on my screen, it doesn't include the addition of personal info. I'm assuming there's a wait period or a required amount of posts before you can have 'bling' on the site, so I'm not worried.

Happy to be here. I always enjoy joining new communities.

Just to introduce myself - I am Alex Drinkwater, Jr., the author of "The Ghosts of Hanoi," an ebook about the aftermath of the Vietnam War and the fate of the POW/MIAs, available (of course) on Kindle.  Just signed up today and will be following the discussions as much as I can.

Welcome Gator. The Alchemist is perfect on a rainy day. I, too, find it so easy to go anywhere at all, on line at the grocery store, waiting rooms, boring PTA meetings, and read on the Kindle. I'm always surprised to realize how many of my friends say they still want to read printed books. Hope the forum is beneficial. I just joined recently, too.
