OMG. I'm moving soon too, when my house sells, whenever that will be. I've already packed at least 20 cartoons of hardcover books. In my basement storeroom I have 3 hardware shelves stuffed full, like 3' x 2' x 7'. I dread going through all of these. At least half are paperbacks with tiny print and turning yellow. These are too hard on my eyes nowadays. I can't destroy a book, so I'll have to find them new homes. Maybe I'll set up a table in my front yard and make a sign for "free books."

Dear Kindle Boards and Harvey,
I am delighted to be a part of this discussion, having just brought out in Kindle e-book two of my traditionally published novels. I'd like to learn how to advertise on Kindle Boards and also apply for a KB Book of the Day. Can you help me with this please?
All the best, Brenda Peterson

Greetings and Welcome, new members!! We are so glad you found KindleBoards, an independent resource for people who own or have interest in Kindle, so our forum is for both readers and writers. We have many areas that you probably will like. Have you been to The Book Corner yet? That's the area for discussions about books (naturally ). That's also where you will find threads about books Recommended by our Members and a list of additional sites for Book Lovers. Then there is the Book Bazaar where our member/authors post about their books and the Writers' Cafe that has discussions about writing, publishing and many other topics. Here is a link to all the KindleBoards authors: Unofficial master list of Kindleboards Authors. That is also where you will locate Bargain Books and even Free Books threads where you can get reading material at low or no cost. If you have a question about your Kindle or it's usage, check out the FAQ or the forum about Tips, Tricks and Trouble Shooting . Or, just ask your question. We have many helpful and knowledgeable people here at KB and we feel there is no such thing as a "dumb" question. Questions about KindleBoards may be answered at Your guide to Forum Speak! linked from Forum tips. If not, once again, ask away! To keep everything running smoothly, we ask that everyone read Forum decorum. Another popular place is Let's Talk Kindle, where all things in the Kindle world are posted about. Do you have a Kindle Fire? Join in the conversations or ask questions in the Fire Talk area. Be sure and check out the Photo Gallery, where pictures of members, pets, flowers, landscapes or just almost anything interesting can be found. Have you been to the Accessories area? There you will see information about covers, skins, lights, bags, stands and many other items to allow you to personalize your Kindle. Looking to just kill some time while you are waiting for your Kindle or if you have your kindle, want to try something different? Try INFINITY Game - Word Association or The "INFINITY" Thread: KEEP POSTING...Ready, Set,... GO!!! or one of the other threads in the Not Quite Kindle area. Sorry for the long post, but there is just so much to do, learn and like about KindleBoards that I just get carried away.

Hello folks, I'm completely new here (and new to blogs too ) so I really don't have a clue what I'm doing. I'm a "would be" author, and, having penned a missive a few years ago, I self published on KDP last month (Woo-hoo!). I did read the intro and I'm not about to publicise the book here (which I had difficulty finding amongst the plethora of books - even new releases - myself), but if I can work out how to start a thread on the Book Bazaar, I might just be able to tell you, someone, ANYONE, about it. Anyway, thank you for the opportunity, and I hope to be able to spread a smile or two soon.

Hi all! I'm new here, but I look forward to getting to know folks around here. I've had my Kindle a little over a year, so I've read quite a few Kindle books in that time.

Lurked on this board for several months, the information here is invaluable.

Hey all. I'm a noob here, to boards in general, and to the Kindle. Guess there's a learning curve to everything. Pardon me if I step on toes. Just published a short story on Smashwords and am looking for info on self publishing with Kindle as well as stuff on indie publishing. Also anything about book promotion. Hope that's not too pushy.
Well, that's all for now. Thanks

Hi Harvey,
While this is a wonderful site and full of ideas, I find it increasingly frustrating in moving around the site. I have posted on threads that I can no longer even find to see if someone responded. I am quite confident that there is plenty of feedback, but useless to me if I have to spend hours looking for the thread that has now fallen into the black hole and nowhere to be found. Maybe I am just so computer challenged that I can't figure out how to subscribe to the thread....I have hit notify, thinking it will send me an email with a link back to the thread....at least I could find it that way... no such luck, no emails arrive from the thread. I have tried searching by the name of the thread only to be taken to the web site for that topic, (Go Launchers).... on other forum sites that I participate on, I subscribe to the thread, and then when I come back to the forum, I go in through my profile and find the list of threads that I have either subscribed to or I am following....hit the link and it takes me straight there... if I can do this on this forum, I have been unable to deterimine how to do that...can you help.... because I think this forum is full of wonderful information, but spending hours going page by page looking for a title, trying to find a thread I want to get back to is ridiculous... Help
Betty

You could try the link at the top of the page called "Show new replies to your posts." I use that one a lot.

OMGoodness, like my mom would say..... if this were a dog, he would have bitten you! LOL yes that does help I had seen this, but mostly at the bottom of the pages, and it does not take you anywhere, so I think I have seen it, but assumed it took me nowhere. This will only work if there has been a reply posted, but other than that, I have no way to get back to the post after I have pulled it up. I wonder why we can't subscribe to a thread we are following, so that its always sitting in your profile until you delete the thread. This really makes it so much easier to jump from thread to thread.... But thank you so much.... for pointing out this link at the top of the page....I couldn't see the trees for the forest! Betty

You can. Click 'notify' which is at the bottom of any thread. When there's been a post since you last visited it you'll get an email with a link which will take you directly to the first post you haven't seen.

Kindle Boards members, hi! I was reading ebooks for years on a desktop computer, and when I received a Kindle for my birthday, I was liberated. I've published my first novel on KDP, and I'm working on my next. Glad to be here!

Hi Everybody! I'm delighted to find Kindleboards because I'm crazy about my Kindle! I love to read and really enjoy being able to carry multiple books in one small device. I now choose purses based on whether or not my Kindle will fit comfortably. I look forward to learning more. Thank you for allowing me to join!
