I've been reading this site quite a lot since my Kindle arrived on Thursday, mostly looking for opinions about accessories. Registered today (what took me so long?), and glad to be officially here.

Hello everyone. I just joined and I will admit at the outset that I have an ulterior motive. I wrote a book on economics that I am trying to convert into Kindle so I can get it up. I know this doesn't sound really exciting, but I have discovered/created a new way to organize our economy so that we end all of the problems we don't like now. The problem is the Kindle system is having trouble digesting the book and I need to get this thing up there. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know if private messaging is supported on this board or not, so I'll be checking on this to see if anyone can direct me to how free resource that will resolve this problem.
In the meantime, here's the description for the book that will be listed on Amazon if I can get this done:
"Recessions, depressions, inflation, unemployment, discrimination, accountability, corruption, bubbles, bailouts, bank fraud, tariffs, taxation, capital access, fiat currency, investment fraud, credit, exports, deficits, housing market crashes, entitlement program reform, market crashes, government spending, the national debt – all of these seemingly intractable problems now have a real answer and are part of an exciting and totally unique reading experience that awaits you. The Fix is a journey into the heart of a whole new interpretation of capitalism and funding the costs of government that provides truly unique solutions to our society’s most pressing economic problems and challenges. The Fix demonstrates a whole new way of organizing our economy so we may pay all of the costs of government on a current basis, eliminate our national debt automatically and without suffering, and preventing recessions from ever occurring again – all of it is due to the structure of this incredible new approach to capitalism that rescues our most beloved entitlement programs and ends the lack of accountability and never-ending corruption of government forever – all without using a single penny of taxes. The Fix describes a “New Economy” where banking system failures are not possible, a new kind of stock exchange that will never crash, companies that can never be bankrupt, an end to the housing crisis, eradication of the fear of systemic unemployment and all of it in terms the average person can understand and embrace. The Fix also describes the New Economy in terms of a new central banking system that puts an end to worthless paper money and inflation fears, a new kind of commercial banking system that no longer discriminates against anyone and operates on a self-regulating and self-sustaining basis, a new kind of credit system that allocates credit solely based upon supply and demand, a new system for generating revenue for government that uses not a single dollar of taxation and a fiscal appropriations program that provides complete accountability and transparency at all levels of government and for all programs and all companies listed on this new capital market exchange. The Fix provides the real world solutions our society seeks to sustain and create the basis for sustained prosperity, freedom and the pursuit of happiness as we all define those terms to be. You don’t have to be an economist or rocket scientist to understand how The Fix will change the world economy forever. You just have to read it."
Help out a knothead and we'll conquer the world - or at least Kindle. Thanks, CEL...

Hi,
I am new here and have had my Kindle 2 for less than a week (bought it at a local Target.) Now the Kindle 3 is announced, should have known better as a read a blog that speculated a Kindle 3 for August and most Target's around me were out, oh well technology marches on. Well, I have enjoyed my Kindle so far and hope to learn more about it and the things you can do. I have too many real books and I decided that I want to try to buy ebooks from now on to save space. I liked the Kindle because there were more books in my field for Kindle than all other ereaders combined. It also is nice to have some buttons, the nook is nice but I didn't like the touch screen, I have an iPad and iPhone so I am spoiled when it comes to touchscreen response. So hello all, I will lurk for a while, ask questions and learn. Thanks in advance for your patience with another newbie asking the same question for the millionth time.
Scott

Welcome Scott! If you like, you can always return your Kindle 2 to Target, I'm pretty sure they have a 30-day return policy. Then you'll just have to do without until your new Kindle3 arrives from Amazon at the end of August.

Greetings and Welcome, New Kindle-owners!! We are so glad you found KindleBoards! We have many areas that you probably will like. Have you been to The Book Corner yet? That's the area for discussions about books (naturally ). That's also where you will find threads about books Recommended by our Members and a list of additional sites for Book Lovers. Then there is the Book Bazaar where our member/authors post about their books and the Writers' Cafe that has discussions about writing, publishing and many other topics. Here is a link to all the KindleBoards authors: Unofficial master list of Kindleboards Authors. That is also where you will locate Bargain Books and even Free Books threads where you can get reading material at low or no cost! Here is a link to get you started: Master list of free & under $1 titles available from Amazon. If you have a question about your Kindle or it's usage, check out the FAQ or the forum about Tips, Tricks and Trouble Shooting . Or, just ask your question. We have many helpful and knowledgeable people here at KB and we feel there is no such thing as a "dumb" question. Questions about KindleBoards may be answered at Forum tips. If not, once again, ask away! To keep everything running smoothly, we ask that everyone read Forum decorum. Another popular place is Let's Talk Kindle, where all things in the Kindle world are posted about. Be sure and check out the Photo Gallery, where pictures of members, pets, flowers, landscapes or just almost anything interesting can be found. Have you been to the Accessories area? There you will see information about covers, skins, lights, bags, stands and many other items to allow you to personalize your Kindle. Looking to just kill some time while you are waiting for your Kindle or if you have your kindle, want to try something different? Try INFINITY Game - Word Association or The "INFINITY" Thread: KEEP POSTING...Ready, Set,... GO!!! in the Not Quite Kindle area. Sorry for the long post, but there is just so much to do, learn and like about KindleBoards that I just get carried away.

Newbie here.
Been thinking about getting a Kindle for ages but the whole having to buy it from the US and the high cost just kept it out of my radar.
The new one for Ł109, though, brought it firmly back into range. Mine's ordered so I signed up here to read what all you folks have been discussing for years.
Lots of catching up to do before my K3 arrives...

Once again, thanks for making this forum available, both for kindle readers, and for authors. I had an account here, but after crashing two computers and making an interstate move, that acount is for all purposes lost. So here I am starting all over again. With the low price of the new kindle, I hope to be a kindle owner myself within a few months. PD Allen

And frankly, I don't care much for theirs. - Money may not buy happiness, but it can d*mn well give it! - I always knew I was a star And now, the rest of the world seems to agree with me. - I dress to kill, but tastefully - I won't be a rock star. After putting off getting a kindle for ages, I bit the bullet when I got the email about the new Kindle. Directly ordered it and can't wait for it to arrive.
Been reading a lot here the past few days, great community!

Hello all. I bought my first Kindle the morning the K3 was announced, and I have been using it daily to read PDFs, mainly of antebellum American novels and periodicals, downloaded from Google Books. It's not perfect for this use but it is an upgrade over microfilm.
I've learned a lot from the forum so far and thank the owners and mods for hosting it.
