It's a simple way to keep track of your finished books.....  and at the end of the month someone tallies the number of locations, number of books, etc....  interesting to see how much the group is reading.  Feel free to join in.......

Sure, I will.

A few months ago, we all started wondering how many books we read a month, both individually and collectively as a group. Deb (drenee) started the first book count thread (that was October) and we've been doing it monthly since then. Annalog culls statistics from the thread at the end of the month and posts the results--number of books read, abandoned, total locations, etc.

It works this way: if you want to participate, post in the thread to save your place. Then, as you read books or have books to add to the list, go in and modify your original post (this is important). By modifying, it keeps it that each person has one post in the thread.

You can include as much or as little information as you want. For myself, I have three categories: books I am reading/have finished; books on the shelf; and samples. For each book I include: title, author, number of locations, date downloaded, date started reading, date finished reading and a rating of the book.

Since I do all my reading (well, most of it) on my Kindle, those are the books I include. Others include print books, audiobooks, PDFs, etc.

We have specifically kept it open-ended as to what type of information to include and how much.

Please join in if the idea appeals to you. I really like the thread and enjoy seeing what others are reading.

It's just a group of us that are keeping track of the books we read each month and posting the title, author, pages if available, and/or kindle locations. Some of us also give smiley face ratings to the book. At the end of the month someone comes along and does all the totals and statistics.

It's just a fun way to see what everybody is reading. Feel free to join in.

Hope to see you join us; the more the merrier!

I wait about a week before working on the statistics so that people who are busy at the end of the month have time to update their posts.

Reading the titles and comments from others sometimes reminded me of books I forgot I wanted to read and other times caused me to sample books I did not know about. Comments on abandoned books have not yet been for books I was considering buying but might save me some money in the future. Smiley
