Just ordered my Kindle today!!
Here are the questions I already have and I'll begin searching as soon as I post this.

1)  How do I register it or will it already be registered?

2)  How can I find out if I have Whispernet coverage where I live - short of waiting till I receive my Kindle.

3)  What cover or sleeve do you recommend - looking for low cost - not the $75 type.

4)  Where do you go to find free or low-cost books - I'll be searching if here for more of those.

Thanks for taking the time to help a newbie

Hi Z-man, welcome! Congratulations on ordering your Kindle.

1)  How do I register it or will it already be registered?

It should already be registered.  To check, go to Amazon, click on one of the Kindle departments and then you will see a bar across the top of the page, under the search box.  Click on "Manage Your Kindle".  There you can see any Kindle devices registered to your account.

Amazon has a map available here.

I use M-Edge covers, love them! I have the Platform, Leisure and Latitude, I use the Leisure one the most.

Keep an eye on the Book Bazaar section of the forum.  Public domain (free) books in Kindle format are available from ManyBooks and Project Gutenberg, among many others.  Inkmesh also keeps track of free Kindle books on Amazon and other places.

Enjoy your Kindle!

I have read that the new Kindles use AT&T for their carrier.
The older ones used Sprint, which I prefer.

Prazzie - Thanks for taking the time to answer all of my questions.
I've already visited some of the links and will hit all the others as well.
