I was sitting here with my DX today and actually had whispernet on (was checking the number of pages for the Feb reading thread) and suddenly it said it was updating and now I'm on 2.3.4 (for DX not DXi).
I had manually installed the last update I was aware of, so this took me by surprise.
I don't find any mention of this on the Amazon site.

What was the prior version on the KDX? Do you notice any differences?

This is starting to get annoying! 2.3 which slowed my DX down a LOT, then 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 which I guess sped it back up again but didn't seem to do anything else. Now 2.3.4? Is it too much to ask for (1) some kind of RELEASE NOTES so we know what's getting added/removed/changed on our devices and (2) some way of OPTING OUT of an update?
I suppose using the screensaver hack is my way of opting out but still, the kindle is so very not an "open" platform.

I too just received the 2.3.4 update on my DX. I haven't noticed anything different, except maybe it seems a bit more responsive, but who knows . Like previous posters, I agree that it would be nice to have release notes.

The prior version was 2.3.3. And so far no differences, except for maybe a slight speed boost. I'll update once I've had more time with it.

I haven't seen anything different but haven't been using the Kindle much since the stealth update to 2.3.4 earlier. A speed boost would be nice. Folders would have been nicer.
And I agree, release notes would have been nice.

I updated to 2.3.3 manually when it came out. I just checked my version after seeing this post and true as Bob, my K2i's version is now 2.3.4 (431108003). Stealth update indeed! Wonder why they're so slow with release notes. The Amazon update pages still say 2.3.3 is the latest.

Mine (K2) updated itself as well. Does anyone know if they ever add new screensavers with these updates? I'm a new Kindle owner and would love to see a different variety of screensavers.

Just noticed my DX flashing, then the screen rotating, so I guessed a software update had occurred. I checked, and now I'm running version 2.3.4. But Amazon's support page says the latest version is 2.3.3. I've gotten the last couple updates (2.3.2 and 2.3.3) fairly frequently, so I'm wondering what if any changes have been made with all these minor version tweaks.

Makes me think they forgot me, since I am still waiting for my update. Doesn't seem fair if people are getting 2 updates for their Kindle. Just me being frustrating with the long wait.

I did a manual update on mine and lo and behold - the comms came up! I thought it was disabled on my "suspect" Kindle, but apparently not -- no Whistpernet here anyway so it doesn't matter, but interesting that the unit seems to have the capability.
