When I gave my Air Force son his Kindle for Christmas, I crammed that baby full of every type of book you can imagine. He's mostly stuck with mystery, crime and fantasy, along with making quite a bit of progress into Calvin's Institutes. He's getting a lot of use out of his present. Today he was commenting again on how much he loves it, and specifically mentioned the Oberon cover, and how many comments he gets on it. Good thing nobody can see what he's been reading... See, a couple of weeks ago, he got roped into watching the first Twilight movie with a girl friend. He hated the movie, but wondered if the book was any better. Low and behold, Mom had had the nerve to put all 4 Twilight books on his Kindle (hee-hee). He's now almost finished with the third volume. It's probably a very, very good thing the other guys at the firehouse can't see what he's been so engrossed in...

We Moms take all the blame! But that is funny. What about Harry Potter? Has he read those? I know lots of men, ok, well a few at least, who loved those books.

LOL.
At least he is reading, that's more valuable than what exactly he is looking at.

But he can't read those on his Kindle.
He's read all of those already. And all the Narnia books. Just about everything Tolkein ever wrote. The Eragon books. Most all of Clive Cussler. For a kid who didn't really catch on to reading until he was 12, he's certainly made up for lost time. Mike, enjoying his Kindle in Heidleburg: with the firetruck: The two of us in Trier:

Cool! fire engines! I love fire engines! (ok, I'm apparently five years old when it comes to seeing fire engines. I think I'm only slightly more mature when it comes to cute firefighters.)

What a great gift to give him too.

What a wonderful gift and Mother! I too got my daughter hooked on the Twilight series by loading them on my Kindle - even though I owned them already in DTB format . Although I haven't gotten her her own Kindle - she still uses mine. She can read it on her iTouch though. Thanks for sharing!

Heck, I'm a guy and I have 3 of the 4 Twilight books on my Kindle, in addition to owning all 4 in DTB format, and The Host, which I still haven't read.
I'd have all 7 Harry Potters on there too, but alas only the James Potter books are on t here, with all my HP still in DTB form.
I keep hearing Clive Cusslers name all over the place lately. I mean I know who he is, but never read any of his books, and lately everywhere I turn there he pops up again.
I might just have to plop down some cash for Sahara just to read the book since I wasn't a huge fan of the movie and keep hearing the book was far better.

Clive Cussler wrote the Dirk Pitt series. Kind of a non-spy James Bond. A man's man, in and out of various situations. I don't think the books will ever be considered "great literature", but for just getting away from the real world, they're pretty good. I don't know how the ladies respond to them.

I love all of Clive Cussler's books. I have also been reading the books by the authors he collaborates with like Jack Du Brul.

I love the Dirk Pitt series. Have read every book at least once, most more than once.

I'm in my 30s and I've re-read the entire series several times.

NOBODY is too old for Harry Potter. My 80 year old dad quite enjoyed them. O.K. he was in his 70's when he actually read them, but still. . . .

Alright! My kinda guy!! Dirk Pitt rules!! (Hated the movie, though - Sahara? - totally wrong guy to play Giordano!
I love the Cussler books, even the later ones where it's not really Cussler writing them (I just take them for what they're worth, as 'other' writers). And yeah, I have to step aside when watching Sahara and just think of it as another adventure movie, not a Cussler movie. It's fine that way. That guy was so not Giordino, and the Rudy character was all wrong too. Even Sandecker wasn't that great a casting even though I really like the actor. Not sure who I would have put in their places, but they weren't it.
