My preference would be to have all my titles on my PC, but I've yet to test the portability of purchased books from Amazon. Of course all of my "public domain" titles (3,000 of which came free with my new Kindle) are all easily transfered to any device in a ".prc" format. I'll have to check out the Amazon bookshelf -- thanks,

For the same of some sanity, I've started to delete a lot of titles that I will never open again. Remove some clusters.

Very rarely delete. I'm often inclined to reread, or to go back and search something. I hate having to turn on Whispernet to do so, though I'm in a good 3G area and usually don't have problems. Plus, frankly, Amazon made the K2 capable of holding 1500 or so books. Hopefully every time mine "phones home" it's a reminder to them that having all that storage capacity with no effective way to organize it is not a smart move! LOL (wishful thinking, I'm sure...)
So at this point, there's about 250 titles on there, plus samples. There's maybe a dozen archived for various reasons like "will never ever ever read again" or freebies that I picked up knowing that I'd want them later--like two years down the road.
The only non Amazon books are all backed up on the computer, but generally if I'm deleting one of those, it's because it was so abysmal I'm not keeping the backup either!

I delete the ones I don't think I'll read for a while. Unread books also stay in the archive until I'm ready to deal with them. Finished books that I enjoyed stay on, and just drift to the bottom of the list.

Here's how I look at it: My Kindle is my bedside table. My Amazon account is my library. When I'm done w/ a book it's removed from the bedside table and returned to the library so that if I want it again I can go there to get it. If I kept ALL my books on my bedside table, it would be a big ol' mess and I'd never be able to find what I was looking for!

I was keeping them all on there but after getting about 5 pages worth of books to wade through I decided to archive all the ones I have read instead. I am liking it much better now. It is easier to wade through different series I am reading this way.

I also delete/archive when done reading. Why keep my Home cluttered?
What I do is have a spreadsheet that contains the Genre, Title, Author, Hyperlink to where I got it (in case I want to refresh my memory on the book), and a few other things for each book I've read and/or wish to read. It's my Library Card Catalog - remember those? While I use K4PC, if I had a K2/DX, I could convert the spreadsheet to a pdf and zing it to the K for reading my Card Catalog on the K.
I don't need Calibre or other software to handle my library. I keep it simple. I can sort my "Card Catalog" anyway I want and should I want to reread a book, it knows where it is. If it was on Amazon, I just go to the Archives, and while I don't have non Amazon books yet, those would be Archived to a separate eBooks folder (and backed up) on my PC.

I keep them all and I have almost 500 books on it. I like being able to search the books and having them with me at all times.

I was deleting them, but then I found out I was moving to Japan, so I loaded it up. I have a KK so I got a SD card and made sure all my favs were on there as well as several more. Now, I am thinking of going back to deleting. I can always get them back by connecting to the computer. There are just too many to be able sort them. I hate having to flip through 16 pages to find the book I want!

I'm a pack-rat - I hate throwing stuff away, so I'm a keeper. My situation is a bit different because we don't have the WhisperNet service here in New Zealand, I have to download any material on to my PC first anyway before I transfer it to my Kindle via the USB cable - Disc space is so cheap these days that the cost of storeage is negligable - plus, I've started using Calibre - its a great software tool for organizing, converting, and transmitting e-material.

I delete them from my Kindle. If they are non-DRM books, I keep a copy on my PC.

I too am a deleter. I know I can grab it on Amazon again. The ones I get from other sites I have on my computer should I want to read them again. I will tell you it about killed me the first time I deleted something. *lol*

I delete. I like to keep only the unread books on my Kindle. Also, I share an account with 2 others and we like a lot of the same books, but not all. I don't load them on my Kindle.

I rarely re-read, so I am with the delete group. I would have 70 pages to go through if I didn't.
