I know Noreve has been getting a bit of negative press lately, however I still stand behind my purchase and would buy another even if it meant ordering it from France. Why you ask? Plain and simple: the rail system just can't be beat for keeping a kindle in place. Secondly, I am extrememly happy with the craftsmanship of this case. Look at the detail and the overall functionality of this case and you'll understand. Every button, every slot, every place where you could interact with the kindle is easily accessible while the kindle is safely in this case. They even have thought of mesh grills to allow the sound to get out of the speakers without being muffled. I wanted a case that wasn't overly flashy, yet still looked like it was good quality. This is the kind of case I could take with me just about anywhere. I slip this in with my black leather portfolio at work and no one thinks anything of it. For ease of use, it doesn't get much simpler than this. Line the top and bottom edges of the kindle inside the top and bottom rails of the case, then slide the Kindle in from the left to the right until it butts up against the rail at the far right edge. You may think this may not be very secure, but it is designed to be snug. If you look at the last picture I uploaded, it is quite secure and will not slide out under normal usage (there is no fourth rail so the side facing down is completely open). The clasp is magnetic. When it first arrived, it was quite a tight fit to get this to clasp together. However, because it is leather, with repeated use it stretched and now is quite easy to do up. When reading in the case, you can flip the front cover behind the back cover and use the clasp to hold it there. The Noreve comes with pockets inside the front cover which most people probably won't use. Yes they add a small amount of extra thickness to the cover but it really isn't that much. Here are a few pics I've taken to share with everyone (incase anyone is wondering about the skin, it's Decalgirl's ACU Camo) FRONT VIEW. The design at the bottom right corner is Noreve's logo. RIGHT SIDE AND BOTTOM VIEW. Notice that you can plug in your charger, and control the volume while the case is closed. INSIDE VIEW. Note the mesh openings right where the speakers go for sound to get out of the case. CLOSE UP OF THE INSIDE RIGHT SIDE. This is covered by the Kindle but I still thought it was nice. SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE KINDLE. Good illustration of the thickness. CASE WITH KINDLE LOCKED IN. Notice how unobtrusive the rails are. TOP VIEW. Easy access to the headphone jack and power switch. BOTTOM VIEW. Power cord can be easily attached even when case is closed. THE HANG TEST. The kindle is snug enough between the three rails that I was able to lift it by the clasp and not have it slide out of the case and smash into the desk below. There is nothing physically holding the kindle on the side currently facing down.

Wow! Thanks for the terrific review and pictures. But I have two questions: (1) Is the lining of the cover made of quality leather? (The side with all the cardholder and the side that is under the Kindle?) (2) Do you know if one could use the Kandle booklight that is designed to clip directly on to the Kindle? Thanks again, Judith

I am quite satisfied with the quality of the leather all around. It's not cheap looking or feeling (some lower quality cases look and feel like plastic). It also does not have the funny smell associated with cheaper cases. I cannot comment on the Kandle working with this case as I don't have one. I do have a Mighty Bright triple LED light that works fine. I'll be posting a review and pics of that in the next day or so.

The quality of the leather used throughout is excellent. One thing to note is that the interior is always black, regardless of exterior color. As for the Kandle--whatever book light you use must be able to attach to the FRONT cover when the Noreve is folded back for reading. There is absolutely zero space between the Kindle and the back once it's slid into the rail system. Mine actually takes a bit of effort to slide in and out--the plus to that is that there's simply no way at all that a K2 is going to fall out of a Noreve. But it does mean that the distance the Kandle can span without interfering with the coverage of the light is going to be critical. I use a regular Mighty Brite with mine and have had no problems.

Cobra, is yours the pebble finish (Ambition) or the plain finish (Perpetual)? The overall idea of this case is becoming very appealing to me... hang the price cause I've already spent way more than this on cases that I'm not exactly in love with. Read: big case sale coming soon. I'll be interested to see which one it is too--I'm thinking it's the Ebony Ambition (pebbled)? I do wish they'd show all the covers in all the colors.

I think they HAVE shown all the colors. I read a review some place... oh, please don't ask me where but you might trying googling, in which the reviewer said there was 3 colors for the Ambition pebbled texture, 4 for the suede and that is exactly what is shown on the website. Plus a bazillion colors ... oops, that is 12... for the Perpetual smooth leather. The way I understand it, all the color/leather combinations are shown. I think your Sandy Vintage is beautiful but if I'm smart and not emotional, I'll order something in black or at least a very dark color. I had a Brown/Black Dooney type coloring Vaja for my Palm Pilot some years back. It ended up where you could see exactly my hand print of how I always held the case. I ended up having it dyed all black. P.S. I found the other review. Here's the link. http://www.casescoop.com/2009/04/22/amazon-kindle-2-leather-case-by-noreve-review/

Does anyone know if either the Kandle or the Eluminator light (the one without the clip that is designed to go with the M-Edge Prodigy) will work with the Noreve rail system? Judith

I think someone used an e-luminator by tucking it either into the travel wallet or between the covers when the Noreve was folded back. I haven't seen anyone mention an Kandle with a Noreve yet.
Vicki--I'm not sure if you saw my other post on the Sandy Vintage color. I used a suede protectant on mine the day it arrived--something like $3 a can, and I barely used any. I've literally spilled tea on it and there's no staining at all. I'm pretty hard on just about everything I own, so I'm actually impressed that the Noreve shows virtually no wear. And with the suede protectant, I'm no longer concerned about it getting dirty either!
There's a Dark Vintage K2 cover for sale in the Buy/Sell section. If that was the Jean or the Passion Vintage, I'd probably cave and buy it. LOL

Thanks for the great review Cobra!
I have a Kandle and just ordered the Noreve, when it arrives I'll let you know how the Kandle works with it.
Question for Noreve owners. When the case is closed does it offer enough protection if the Kindle is dropped and hits the right top or bottom corner? I ordered mine for around the home and I'm wondering if I should buy another cover for taking the Kindle out and about.

I've dropped mine several times, including on tile. No trouble, not even a scuff so far. I don't hesitate to take my K2 out of the house in this cover--it's been to the other side of the world and back in the Noreve.

Victoria, thank for your answer. Some of the reviews I have read pointed out they don't think there is much protection if it lands on a corner. I'm trying to decide if I should grab an Oberon as well, or just stay with Noreve for everything. Decisions, decisions...

The Oberons I've been thinking about are being phased out, so I think if I am going to get one I need to oder it now.

Cardinal, before spending the extra money, why don't you hold out and live with the Noreve for awhile, since you've got it on order. Every review I've read says that it's a good protective case as Kindle cases go. Pretty soon you'll know first hand, yes? Personally, I spent the extra money on the warranty from Square Trade and included their Accidental Damage Protection. That's better insurance than ANY cover. LOL I hated my Oberon--one of the minority, I know, but I hated the weight, hated the sharp feel of the edges, hated the corner straps, hated the fact that I had to have a bag to keep it in inside my purse because heaven forbid it got a scratch (it had several by the time I got rid of it, plus the spine was showing significant wear after 3 months of folding it back to read). The Noreve Sandy Vintage has none of those issues, and I know I have the right cover for me because I have remarkably little interest in buying another one. I'm happy with what I have--it would be absolutely PERFECT if they'd just leave out the stupid travel wallet....

Victoria,
Have you tried to bribe them to leave out the travel wallet? Just wondering if this is something they would consider on special order. Prolly not, huh?
pffffttttttt
As far as protection goes, unless it were one of those aluminum cases, I doubt that any case could protect against every possible scenario. While people worry about edges and corners, I had a small mishap this morning involving a DayTimer binder, the computer keyboard and my Kindle. Kindle was laying on top of the keyboard (momentarily) while I was attempting to put the DayTimer storage binder back into the slipcase, of course not bothering to stand up, take down the slip case and do it the proper way. As a result, the slip case with binder half-way in fell landing on top of my Kindle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fairly flatly, I think but it could just as easily have been the corner careening down into the screen of my Kindle. I had the Kindle in an M-Edge GO Jacket and everything was cool as the M-Edge is well padded. Whew!!! But still, it makes one wonder how a case not so well padded would have fared?
