Thanks to Lovemy4brats, Pushka, and several others, and their great how-to suggestions, I have what I consider, the ideal Kindle Cover.

I ordered "World Tree" in Saddle from Oberon on Monday, and thanks to the great service of UPS, I received it today. Also ordered another Kindle2 cover from Amazon, which also arrived today.

The redo only took about 20 minutes. I simply removed the complete inside panel from the Amazon cover with the hinges, removed the velcro strips that are sewn into the back of the Oberon cover, and glued the Amazon panel with the hinges in the Oberon.

Works perfectly. Looks great. Very secure. Best of all, no UGLY STRAPS, and the skin on the back of the device will not be damaged by the velcro strips, should I care to read a naked Kindle.

Most anyone with reasonable skills, should, be able to handle this project.

Fuzzy-
Did you glue the Amazon parts onto the black leather inside the Oberon cover, or slide it under the leather and glue it in place?

Lulello,

I glued it over the leather on the Oberon inside. I really didn't care for the little pocket in the left side. What is it's purpose?Huh I wanted a  nice clean look to the inside, just like the inside of the Amazon cover. I couldn't think of a thing that I would use that pocket for, so why have it. However, that's me. Perhaps someone else might find a use for it.

Hey, great to help spread the word.  I cant see your piccies though!
Here is mine - with the MEdge covers, there is no need to glue and the plastic insert they use is very stiff.  If you have two oberons, you can use the same hinge.

That sounds great!  Can you please post pictures?  What type of glue did you use?

pjune,

Glue used; The Original Barge Cement. It is used by shoemakers for glueing leather etc.

Thanks!  I've never heard of that.  I probably would've used hot glue or something, which I'm sure wouldn't hold up well!   Cheesy
